The political atmosphere in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja, is set to 
experience some serious heat, as the man in charge of the House of Reps 
and the number four citizen in Nigeria is set to take a very bold step.<br />

Speaker Aminu Tambuwal has concluded his nationwide consultation to 
decide his political direction ahead of the 2015 political dispensation.
 Impeccable sources close to the speaker disclosed that he is ready to 
make the move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All 
Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the declaration will most 
likely happen on Tuesday when the House resumes plenary.</div>

Tambuwal had told the media that he can't leave his people of Sokoto who are now in APC:</div>

“I am still consulting my primary constituency on these crucial matters 
which affect me, Sokoto State and Nigeria generally. I will come back 
and engage my people. All politics is local and I will make my final 
stand on these topical issues known to Nigerians at the most appropriate

However, the need for him to now make his political plan known is 
largely influenced by the fact that the APC’s timetable for it 
presidential primaries has been fixed for December 2, leading to the 
February 14 general elections. His defection this week is to give him 
enough time to declare, pick his form, and mobilise his structure.<br />
<br />
According to the APC timetable (which might be modified), the expression
 of interest forms for all offices will go on sale from October 6. Those
 interested in seeking the party’s nomination to stand in the 
presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and 
Houses of Assembly elections are expected to pick their forms between 
October 6 and 19.<br />

The sale of nomination forms to presidential aspirants will commence on 
October 20 and end on November 6, while screening of presidential 
aspirants is slated to take place between November 10 and 13, and 
November 14 and 15 will be for appeals. The party’s national convention,

The Christian Association of Nigeria has challenged the founder of 
Household of God, Pastor Chris Okotie to manage his home and keep to 
biblical principles of one man, one wife.<br /><br />The association was 
reacting to the demand by Okotie that its President, Pastor Ayo 
Oritsejafor, should resign over the alleged involvement of his aircraft 
in the controversial $9.3m smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians 
and an Israeli.<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">
Okotie, had in a statement posted on his church’s Facebook page, said 
“Considering the collateral damage Pastor Ayo’s close relationship with 
the President has done to the Christian community, it is fit and proper 
for the Pastor to resign immediately as CAN President to salvage what 
remains of the battered image of the association.</blockquote>

“This is without prejudice to the on-going investigation on the matter. 
Denials of his culpability by the Federal Government, CAN officials and 
his own recent defense, does nothing to reduce the moral burden this 
whole saga places on his shoulders. As the titular leader of Christians

 and he ought to respond to it by resigning from his exalted position.”</blockquote>
<br />But reaction to Okotie's statement, the Director of National Issues in CAN, Sunny Oibe, said:</div>

President of CAN.<br /><br />“Chris Okotie should remove the log in his eyes
 before he begins to see a peck in somebody’s eyes. Pastor Ayo had a 
soaring integrity before he was elected the President of CAN. Who 
elected Chris Okotie to become the spokesperson of Christians in 
Nigeria?<br /><br />“CAN will not like to join issues with Okotie because 
doing that will amount to making him popular. He is looking for 
popularity which he doesn’t have through Pastor Ayo and he is not going 
to get it.”</div>

The complex saga revolving CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor’s purported 
involvement in the South African arms deal scandal has taken a new twist
 with his connection to Asari-Dokubo under scrutiny. <div>
<br />On Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives 
Congress (APC), Lai Mohammed had alleged that Asari Dokubo was on board 
the plane belonging to Oritsejafor that illegally ferried US$9.3 million
 to South Africa for the purchase of weaponry. </div>

"If these arms are meant to fight insurgency, as the government has 
claimed, what is Asari Dokubo’s business purchasing arms for the 
Nigerian military, if indeed they were for the military? Does it not 
occur to the Nigerian government that this man who once took arms 
against the state may not have jettisoned his sinister plan against the 
same state,” the statement read.<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">
This was followed by an old picture reappearing on social media 
purporting to show Oritsejafor smiling with Asari Dokubo and Mohammed 
Yusuf, the late leader and instigator of Boko Haram. </blockquote>

The picture was captioned: “Can anyone tell me what could ever be the 
relationship between a perceived man of God and two militants?”</blockquote>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />Dokubo immediately and vehemently debunked the 
claim of his involvement. In several video messages posted to his 
Facebook page, Dokubo called for Lai Mohammed’s arrest, describing him 
as a disgrace to Islam and a ‘pathological and award-winning liar’.  <br /><br />“Presently,
 I am in Saudi Arabia performing my Hajj as the Amirul Hajj of Bayelsa 
State and this can be confirmed,” he emphatically stated in a telephone 
interview. “The evil they wish me will be visited on the home of Lai 
Mohamed forever,” he added. <br /><br />Additionally, Comrade Rex Emojite 
Ekiugbo Anighoro, a close associate of Dokubo and spokesman of Niger 
Delta People Salvation Front (NDPSF) Worldwide, claimed on Facebook that
 he was actually the third party in the controversial picture, not 
Yusuf. <br /><br />“It is also shambolic that a picture of I Comrade Rex 
Emojite Ekiugbo Anighoro, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo Asari and Pastor
 Ayo Oritsejafor taken during the Peace building Process in the Niger 
Delta in 2008 was lifted by agents of the All Progressive Congress,” he 
wrote.   <br /><br />He however acknowledged closeness of Dokubo and 
Oritseajfor, stating that they had been compatriots for over a decade. 
“May we also state that Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo Asari who has been
 close to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor for over a decade stands with Pastor 
Ayo and can boldly state that he cannot be involved in any way with 
shoddy deals nor anything that could tarnish the good image he has built
 over the years,” the Facebook post added. <br /><br />Oritsejafor has been 
accused of ‘politicizing’ the Christian Association of Nigeria since the
 beginning of his tenure. Calls have come from several quarters for 
Oritsejafor to step down in the wake of the damning allegations, 
campaigners for such including former CAN President Cardinal Okogie and

Several Nigerian media houses reported today how the tragic collapse of a
 building at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) has already 
begun to have an adverse affect on Nigerian tourism and its attendant 
businesses.<br /> <br /> According to a statement issued by the Airport Car 
Hire Association of Nigeria (ACHAN) of Murtala Muhammed International 
Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, and signed by the chairman, Summonu Oseni, 
business slowed down immediately after the building collapsed and has 
not picked up as foreign visitors have dramatically reduced.<br /> <br /> 
“The incident does not affect The SCOAN alone but also 
Nigeria’s economy,” the statement said. “What happened is a big blow to 
the economy of the nation, most especially, the airport as most of 
the tourists to Nigeria are coming to visit The SCOAN. <span style="color: #cc0000;">I mean, six out of every 10 tourists come to Nigeria to visit the Synagogue Church</span>.”<br /> <br /> He described Synagogue as a positive ‘brand’ for Nigeria.<div>

“The SCOAN is a big brand for Nigeria and a lot of revenues are 
generated by those involved in the tourism chain, especially members of

According to the statement, Nigeria should encourage the ‘SCOAN 
brand’ and not carry out malicious campaigns of calumny founded 
on unsubstantiated information about it.<br /> <br /> “We pray that this 
will not annoy the pastor and founder of the church, Prophet T.B. Joshua
 to relocate to another country, as other countries would like to have a
 man like him, who would boost tourism for their nation.”<br /> <br /> 
According to PM News, airlines are also feeling the economic impact 
of the incident. An airline operator said that airlines such as 
South African Airways, Arik Air, Aero Contractors, Air France and 
Lufthansa Airways incurred the biggest losses from the reduction in 
spiritual tourists to The SCOAN.<br /> <br /> In the aftermath of the 
tragedy, Joshua had already declared his intention to visit South Africa
 on a monthly basis “to meet people from South Africa and other nations

caution seems to have been thrown to the wind as indecent dressing, even
 in places of worship, has become a trend.<br />

Clergies are beginning to express fears over the spate of indecent 
dressing in churches, especially by ladies. This phenomenon, that was 
once alien to Africa, is gradually becoming a norm and is contributing 
to the increase in the rate of immorality and other ills plaguing the 
society.<br />

The ugly act has taken a dangerous dimension in the society with young 
ladies often found in attires that reveal their body anatomy inside out.
 To many, the dressing pattern is suggestive of something. More 
embarrassing is the fact those dresses are largely transparent.<br />

Because of this, in 2008, the then chairman, Senate Committee on Women 
and Youth, Senator Eme Ufot Ekaete, presented a bill on indecent 
dressing on the floor of the senate titled, “An Act to Prohibit and 
Punish Public Nudity, S*xual Intimidation, and Related Offences”. The 
bill proposed a jail term of six months for offenders. But humanitarian organizations condemned the bill.<br />

Reacting to the said bill, Anita Kyaagba, an undergraduate stated: “We 
are living in a free world and so, we are free to wear anything we want.
 Besides, since you don’t buy the clothes for me, who are you to tell me
 what to wear? I wear what makes me comfortable. As a young girl, I 
follow fashion trend, I wear the best in vogue and if it accentuate some
 parts of my body, and my boyfriend likes it, I don’t see anything wrong
 in it”.<br />
<br />
Adefunke Olutoye, another student who spoke to LEADERSHIP stated that 
she had to stop attending a church in which she grew up because the 
ushers stopped her from entering inside one Sunday because of what she 
was wearing. According to her, “I wore a mini gown which highlighted my 
hips and b**bs and the ‘old-fashioned’ usher refused to allow me enter 
the church. Since then I decided to join another church that won’t judge
 me based on my dressing, but my heart. Besides, the Lord sees the 
heart, not the body, so, why should anybody judge me”?<br />
<br />
On her part, a retired school principal and mother of five, Mrs Hilda Kumbin stated that:<br />
“It is unfortunate that standard has fallen in the society and parents 
are not helping because they don’t have time for their children. There 
are many reasons why young girls come out in indecent dresses but the 
most important I think has to do with self-esteem. When a young girl 
feels inadequate, lacking in self-confidence, she will do anything to 
draw attention to herself and wearing indecent clothes could be her way 
of doing that. They forget that for every action, there is a reaction 
and that is why we have series of cases like r*pe.<br />

"Most young women have fallen victims to r*pe because of the provocative
 dresses they put on. I believe that, indecent dressing debases 
womanhood because it tends to expose parts of the woman’s body that

establish guidelines for parents and students on acceptable mode of 
dressing. The National Assembly must enact a law that will regulate 
dressing in the society. I like what some schools like University of 
Abuja and Nasarawa State University, Keffi are doing on indecent 
dressing. Government must ban unscrupulous music videos and films, while
 parents must discourage their children from such dressings. In the same
 vein, teachers must discourage this madness. Young people must know 
that indecent dressing do not improve their beauty, rather, they dent 
their image and it also symbolizes rebellion and immorality, ending in 
molestation”, she cautions.<br />

Also, Mr Peter Abbass, a Psychology lecturer in Nasarawa State 
Polytechnic stated: “I think it‘s time a course on immorality or 
indecent dressing is introduced in schools. I think it is low 
self-esteem that is making young girls to dress indecently. It makes 
them believe that they have to do something, sometimes improper to be 
noticed, this is to fill an emptiness in their lives. They are not 
contented with their abilities and beauty.<br />
<br />
"These young girls see other ladies dressing that way and because men 
chase after such girls, the girl with very low self-esteem will want to 
join them to get the same attention. One thing about indecent dressing 
is that it attracts attention; whether it is a negative or positive one,
 the bottom line is that it attracts attention. People must stare and 
automatically, such a person is noticed. So, when a girl who feels 
insecure wants to be noticed, she resorts to indecent dressing.<br />
<br />
"Indecent dressing portrays our society and institution as immoral, if 
it’s in the church, it portrays the pastor as weak and not spiritually 
sound. Parents and adults must dress well and honourably as an example 
for younger generations. The mass media should promote good moral values
 and religious leaders must strongly preach against indecent dressing 
because you will be addressed by the way you are dress,” he said.<br />

For Pastor John Ishaku, Christian parents must teach their children how 
to dress decently because that is what the Bible says. “In like manner 
also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness
 and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly 
array; But (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.” 
So it is a command from the Bible. It is a sin for a lady dressing half 
n*ked to walk in the street or come to church”.<br />

Mallam Yahaya Abdulaziz, a Muslim cleric also stated that, “No good 
Muslim woman will dress indecently because it is clearly written ‘Tell 
the believing men that they shall subdue their eyes (and not stare at 
the women), and to maintain their chastity. This is purer for them. God 
is fully cognizant of everything they do'."<br />

<b>       A renowned Lagos based legal practitioner, Mr. Femi Falana 
(SAN), has advised the Federal Government on what to do about the seized
 $15 million arms purchase money. </b><br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />
The legal practitioner told the federal government to sue the Isreali
 and two Nigerians arrested in South Africa in connection with the 
$15million arms deal with a view to recovering the money.<br />
The advice was contained in a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by Mr. Falana, a copy obtained by the Nation.<br /><br />
He said there is considerable evidence to prove that the suspects, 
alleged to be contractors, breached the terms of the deal for the supply
 of the arms, and to that effect the Nigerian government is perfectly 
entitled to sue them with a view to recovering the entire contract sum 
of $15 million. 
<i> </i><br />
<i>“As independent contractors, they were awarded contracts for the
 supply of arms by the Federal Government and paid accordingly. It is 
indubitably clear that the suspects were negligent for failing to 
conduct due diligence. Hence, they were dealing with companies that are 
not authorized to trade in arms in South Africa. By the way, when was 
the responsibility of purchasing weapons for the armed forces of Nigeria
 transferred from the Ministry of Defence to the office of the NSA,”</i> Falana said.<br /><br />
The lawyer reiterated that the Nigerian government cannot be held 
liable for the alleged criminal activities of the suspects, and blamed 
the office of the NSA for embarrassing the nation by creating the wrong 
impression that Nigeria had breached the law of another country.<br />
<i> </i><br />
<i>“As a sovereign entity the Federal Government can place orders 
for the purchase of arms, either from another government or from 
independent arms dealers. But when the office of the NSA decided to 
award contracts to private corporate bodies for the supply of arms, it 
could not have clothed them with immunity or licence to breach local or 
foreign laws. Notwithstanding their inexplicable negligence, the 
suspects should be advised to contest the order of the High Court which 
authorised the seizure of the funds,”</i> he said.<br /><br />
Falana, urged the Federal Government to caution Col. Sambo Dasuki 
(rtd.), the National Security Adviser (NSA), to stop dragging Nigeria’s 
name in the mud over the controversial $15million arms deal in South 
Africa. He said instead of exposing Nigeria to more ridicule, the 
Federal Government should stop accepting responsibility for the alleged 
criminal actions of the suspects indicted in the alleged laundering of 
the sum of $15 million.<br /><br />
The lawyer, who condemned the office of NSA also questioned the moral
 integrity of the Federal Government to threaten to deal with the South 
African government over the breach of law carried out by a private 
businessmen and corporate bodies involved in the suspicious 
transactions.<br />
<i> </i><br />
<i>“By asking South Africa to reciprocate the gesture of allowing 
MTN and DSTV to operate in Nigeria, is the Federal Government saying 
that both South African companies are allowed to breach the law of the 
land?”</i> he asked.<br /><br />
Falana also blamed the National Assembly for treating the matter of 
urgent national importance with levity and left several questions 
unanswered. He questioned how both chambers failed to examine the 
statement of the NPA which indicates that the official explanations for 
the suspicious transactions were filled with contradictions.<br /><br />
According to him, the Asset Forfeiture Unit in the office of the 
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in South Africa had in the past 
three weeks seized two tranches of funds totalling $15million being 
payment for the alleged purchase of arms by the Federal Government. He 
said after the first $9.3 million smuggled into South Africa by an 
Israeli and two Nigerians was seized last month, the suspicion 
surrounding the development revealed that the South African company 
involved in the deal is not a licensed arms dealer and that the jet used
 to ferry the money belongs to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of 
the Christian Association of Nigeria, who is an ally of President 
Goodluck Jonathan.<br />
<br />
It would be recalled that on October 7, 2014theFederal Government 
threatened the South African government over the second confiscation of 
the sum of $5.7 million meant for arms purchase to fight the terrorists’
 group, Boko Haram.<br /><br />
 However, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has denied involvement in the 
controversial $9.3 million smuggled with his private jet into South 
Africa by two Nigerians and an Israeli.

               A 35-year-old man identified as Ilesanmi, has on Monday, October 6, 
2014 been arraigned by officials for allegedly mol*sting a 13-year-old 
boy s*xually, at No.12, Kajola Street, Iju/Taogbolu area of Akure North 
Local Government of Ondo State.<br />

According to reports by The Nation, sources who witnessed the 
incident said that at about 4 p.m, Ilesanm allegedly lured the boy, who 
was hawking fish, into his room and forced him to fondle and suck his 
p*nis.<br />
<br />
It was learnt that the poor boy raised an alarm and got the attention
 of bystanders which was followed suit by the rebel’s arrest.<br />
<br />
Speaking about the incident, a resident of the location where the 
event happened said, “The boy was hawking fish in the neighbourhood when
 Ilesanmi motioned to him that he wanted to buy fish. That was the bait 
he used to lure the boy into his apartment before forcibly subjecting 
him to s*xual a*sault.<br />

Uganda’s Ministry of Health disclosed that a total of 99 people who had 
been in contact with the victim had been moved to quarantine. These 
contacts are being monitored for signs and symptoms of the disease after
 tests confirmed that the 30-year-old man who worked as a radiographer 
in a Kampala hospital died of the disease. The man was said to have had a
 headache, abdominal pains, diarrhoea and vomited blood before he died.<br />

Marburg virus was first identified in 1967, after simultaneous outbreaks
 in Marburg (from which the disease takes its name) and Frankfurt both 
in Germany, Belgrade, Serbia and Yugoslavia. It was later traced back to
 monkeys imported from Uganda for laboratory work. Since then, the virus
 has appeared sporadically, with just a dozen outbreaks on record. The 
most recent outbreak, also in Uganda, in 2012, killed four out of 15 
patients, according to the United States of America’s Centers for 
Disease Control and Prevention.</div>
