I don’t see anybody who will be happy to vote for him apart

But the masses, the talakawas of Kano, Enugu, Zamfara, and Bayelsa will be very
happy to have a change, a change that will guarantee security of lives and
properties of Nigerians, no matter where they live, no matter their religion or
ethnicity. These are going to be the issues in 2015, security, economy, not
minding the fabricated figures that come from Abuja, indicating that all is
well. All cannot be well where you have crises, where you have insecurity,
where people are scared of bringing their investments into the country. All
these cannot help the economy anywhere in the world.</div>

We have all these issues on the ground and certainly,
sentiments will not work in 2015. All the antics of dividing the country based
on religion, based on North and South, based on ethnicity and class will

suspected tricks of INEC using computer to help a particular political party in
2015.</div>

Master Omonigho Abraham, the four-year old boy who sustained 
extensive injuries to his body, and a life threatening avulsion injuries
 to his scalp following a vicious attack by two Alsatian dogs has been 
flown to India for urgent medical treatment.<br />                 
Little Abraham, who 
lived with his parents in their rented apartment at 35, Adegboyega 
Street, Akesan, Igando area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on 29 September,
 2014, was attacked by dogs. He has been receiving treatment at the 
Burns and Plastics Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital 
(LASUTH) before his father, Mr. Odia Abraham called for his discharge.<br />
But the Lagos State Government said the boy was discharged from hospital against medical advice by his father.<br />

 to his father, Barrister Goddy Okpamen confirmed that the boy has been 
flown to India, saying that the boy’s father was able to raise the money
 through a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO even when the Delta State 
Government had indicated intention to take care of the boy.<br />
Okpamen,
 who did not mention the name of the NGO said he was not sure if the NGO
 that is footing the bill has links with the Delta State Government.<br /><br />
Lagos
 State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, while reviewing report 
of the plastic surgery specialists in LASUTH who attended to Omonigho, 
stated that the boy’s father took an ill-advised step and chose to take 
his son out of the hands of the plastic surgery specialists in LASUTH on
 Friday, 28 November, 2014 after being thoroughly counseled that healthy
 granulation tissue growing on his son’s skull must not be interrupted.<br /><br />
He
 said all attempts to talk Mr. Abraham against taking this wrong step 
were rebuffed by him and that he signed necessary papers to show his 
desperation.<br /><br />
Idris, while explaining the involvement of the state 
government in the management of Omonigho’s health, said that the 
attention of the Lagos State Government particularly the governor was 
drawn to the case of the boy, who was initially rushed to the Igando 
General Hospital, where he was stabilized and wounds cleaned by the 
medical team at the Accidents & Emergency ward of the hospital.<br /><br />
The
 Commissioner added that Omonigho was thereafter referred to the Burns 
& Plastics unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, 
where Specialists in Plastic Surgery assessed him and promptly began to 
manage the life threatening avulsion injuries on his scalp which left 
most of his skull exposed.<br /><br />
The plastic surgery team, he said, 
placed the boy on intravenous medication, intravenous fluids and daily 
wound dressing in order to ensure that health granulation tissue can 
grow and cover the scalp before a skin graft can be successfully 
performed, stressing that, the definitive management of Omonigho’s type 
of extensive and deep wounds is a skin graft.<br /><br />
He added that when 
news of the sad and outrageous event was brought to the notice of the 
Governor, Babatunde Fashola, he was deeply moved with compassion like 
everyone else and he directed that young Omonigho Abraham be offered 
everything that would ensure that he not only survived the injuries, but
 recovered optimally, so that his opportunity to reach his full 
potential was not tarnished by the unfortunate accident.<br /><br />
According
 to the Commissioner, the directive by the governor ensured that 
Omonigho would receive the best of care at no charge to his parents or 
family members, adding that Mr. Odia Abraham; Omonigho’s father was 
thereafter invited to the State Ministry of Health where he received 
full re-imbursement for expenses he incurred previously in the 
management of his son’s health.<br /><br />
“He was given full exemption from 
paying any fees for the management of his son’s health at LASUTH during 
his stay there and Omonigho while recovering wrote a little “thank you” 
letter to the Governor,” Idris noted.<br /><br />
He said while the boy was 
receiving care at LASUTH, he was also visited by the Deputy Governor, 
Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who spent time with him and his parents 
to ensure that they were adequately cared for, stressing that the deputy
 governor, during her visit found young Omonigho to be clinically stable
 and doing very well.<br /><br />
Idris noted that while conservative wound 
management was being done in the Burns and Plastic Ward, in LASUTH, the 
Lagos State Government set plans in motion to take Omonigho abroad for 
further management, where all expenses incurred would be covered by the 
state government, adding that, his parents were informed of every step 
of the process, and had close and continuous contact with the State 
Ministry of Health.<br /><br />
“After a thorough search, a suitable hospital 
was found that would care for the young boy. The chosen facility was the
 RAK Hospital, Dubai UAE. LASUTH established a communication channel 
with RAK Hospital and it was determined that Omonigho would require a 
meshed skin graft coverage of the exposed skull for the next phase of 
his management. The Governor thus approved the funds for the management 
of Omonigho, which includes traveling, feeding and accommodation at the 
RAK Hospital in Dubai, UAE”, the commissioner explained.<br /><br />
He noted 
that the boy’s father was promptly informed of the plan and was invited 
to the State Ministry of Health to discuss the details of the approval, 
travel plans and hospital arrangements, and was thereafter given a 
letter of approval stating the plans to fly his son abroad and was asked
 to provide his son’s passport with an accompanying family member in 
order to process visas and other travel requirements.<br /><br />
“However, 
Mr. Abraham informed us that a Non-Governmental Organisation from Delta 
State has made arrangements to fly him and his son for medical treatment
 at a hospital in India. He was counseled on the benefits of receiving 
the package offered by the Lagos State Government and was also advised 
to put forward his decision as soon as possible so that the necessary 
arrangements can be made to transfer his son and a family member of his 
choice to Dubai for the treatment,” he said.<br /><br />
He added that the 
state government, in an effort to ensure the best care possible for 
Omonigho, also offered to support Mr. Abraham if he would rather go to 
India, in the hope that he would be getting the best care possible from 
the unnamed hospital in India, being sponsored by the NGO.<br /><br />
The 
Commissioner noted that Mr. Abraham however, for reasons best known to 
him chose to take his son out of the hands of the plastic surgery 
specialists in LASUTH on Friday, 28 November, 2014 against medical 
advice.<br /><br />
“The surgical team explained to Mr. Abraham that it was 
pertinent that the healthy granulation tissue growing on his son’s skull
 through the careful, thorough and expert care of the Plastic Surgery 
team must not be interrupted as this may cause infections to set in, and
 slow the healing process, as well as, delay any definitive 
reconstructive surgery. But Mr. Abraham unfortunately, took the 
ill-advised step to leave the facility after being thoroughly counseled 
by the specialist,” he explained.<br /><br />
However, Odia Abraham denounced 
allegations that the boy was forcefully discharged, saying that 
everything went smoothly, stating that the NGO responsible, Global 
Initiative Abuja would visit the Ministry of Health, Lagos State to 
thank the state government on Tuesday.<br /><br />
“If they were fighting, 
will they be coming to Lagos, he said, adding that, the NGO moved faster
 than the Lagos State Government and that a thank you letter had already
 been written to the Lagos State to thank the governor,  the Delta State
 Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and the NGO.</div>

Wife of Vice President Namadi Sambo, Amina, is one of the bereaved 
as a result of the multiple explosions that rocked the Kano Central 
Mosque Friday last week.  by her plight, the President’s wife, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Sunday 
led wives of some top government officials to pay a condolence visit on 
Mrs. Sambo at her husband’s official residence, Aguda House, inside the 
Presidential Villa, Abuja.                         <br />

Nigeria’s president has claimed that “motorable” roads have increased 
five-fold since 2010. There is little evidence to support his claim.<br />

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan recently announced his second term
 bid and made several claims about his government’s achievements, 
including improvements to road networks in the country.<br />
<br />
“When I assumed office in 2010, out of the 35,000km of federal roads 
nationwide, only about 5,000km were motorable, Jonathan said on 11 
November. “Today, that number has increased to about 25,000km.”<br />
<br />
That assertion seemed extreme, given the notoriously potholed state of Nigerian roads<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>So <a href="http://africacheck.org/reports/are-the-majority-of-nigerias-roads-now-motorable/" target="_blank">Africa Check</a> investigated, and found that there was little evidence to support the claim.<br />
This isn’t the first such claim<br />
<br />
Jonathan’s words echo comments made several times in recent months by 
the Federal Ministry of Works, which oversees roads owned by the 
government.<br />
<br />
In July the Punch newspaper quoted the minister of Works, Mike 
Onolememen, as saying that 71% of federal roads are now motorable.<br />
<br />
Speaking at a meeting of the National Council of Works in October the 
minister repeated the claim, saying: “From about 4,500km of fair roads 
in 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has revamped the 
kilometers of good roads to more than 25,000.” He estimated the cost of 
the repairs at 1.765trn naira – around $9.6bn.<br />
<br />
One week before the presidential declaration, he repeated the claim, 
saying: “Over 70% of our road network is now motorable when compared to 
about 16% at the inception of this administration.”<br />
There is little evidence to support it<br />
<br />
Corroborating this is difficult. Of the government agencies involved in 
initiating road works, the Federal Ministry of Works provides the most 
detail. Examples include these speeches by the minister, in May 2014 and
 September 2014. Included in those are lists of some of the federal 
government’s road projects between 2011 and 2014.<br />
<br />
But there is no government document that exhaustively outlines federal 
road projects in Nigeria, says Stanley Achonu, operations lead at 
Budgit, a Lagos-based start-up that tracks government spending.<br />
<br />
Budgit has found it “difficult” to track the 25,000km of claims, he says. The available evidence “doesn’t add up to 25,000km.<br />
<br />
At the same time, Nigerians do not seem to be particularly happy with 
the state of their roads. A 2013 snap poll by NOIPolls, a 
Gallup-affiliated agency, showed that 7 out of every 10 Nigerians 
consider them “unsafe”.<br />
<br />
<b>The government is playing with words</b><br />
Achonu also points out that there’s a semantics issue at work in the way
 government officials refer to road works, allowing for generous 
interpretations of their work.<br />
<br />
The descriptions of the work in the minister’s speeches range from 
“maintenance” to “rehabilitation” to “dualisation.” Which raises obvious
 questions. What does it mean for a road to be “maintained”?<br />
<br />
And, as Achonu queries, if the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) 
fills a handful of potholes on the 120km stretch of road that is the 
Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, does that mean the entire road is then added to
 the catalogue of roads rendered “motorable”?<br />
<br />
Even the president’s concept of “motorable” is a loose one. As the World
 Bank points out in this 2009 document there is no single agreed 
definition. According to Dr Adewole Oladele, a Nigerian academic who is 
currently the project manager of the Transportation Technology Transfer 
Unit at the University of Botswana, a motorable road is “accessible by a
 vehicle, safe, with comfort and no obstruction.” Such a road wouldn’t 
necessarily have to be paved, Oladele said.<br />
<br />
<b>Conclusion: Little evidence to support Jonathan’s claims</b><br />
While there have been some road improvements (particularly in advance of
 elections, as the government seeks to win votes), there is no 
exhaustive proof to corroborate the president’s assertion. It would 
appear that the claims are exaggerated.</div>

Leading presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives 
Congress, Gen. Muhammad Buhari has said that there are enough evidences 
on ground to indicate that the 15years of PDP’s administration in 
Nigeria has been disastrous for the country and her people.<br />
<br />
Buhari stated this in Zamfara State capital, Gusau at weekend during his
 meeting with the APC delegates for the presidential primaries.<br />
<br />
General Buhari, who received a rousing welcome from the people of the 
state, explained that one of the major economic disasters of the PDP 
misrule is the neglect of the nation’s power sector which represents the
 life wire of every sector of the economy.<br />
<br />
He said apart from this, the PDP has over the years turned the country 
into a colony of corruption where dishonest government officials were 
not only let free, but were openly celebrated.<br />

The presidential aspirant charged every citizen of the country to keep 
political, sectional or any other sentiment aside and “assess our 
current situation and make an honest, unbiased judgement”, explaining 
that this will give Nigerians a clear view of the dangers we are plunged
 into by the PDP’s 14 years misrule of the country.<br />
<br />
He called on Nigerians irrespective of their differences “To think 
Nigeria first before any other sentiment.” According to him, the 
survival of the nation is paramount and uncompromising to every citizen.<br />
<br />
“My primary mission is to offer my best as emergency sacrifice to employ
 timely measures to reverse the drift in our social and economic glory”,
 he emphasized.<br />
<br />
“We must not allow this country to perish”, he warns, with a caution 
that Nigeria is heading to collapse and unless “we all put hands on deck
 to salvage it, history will never forgive us” he said.</div>

Suspected armed robbers have killed a Lagos-based businessman, Mr. 
Michael Anyiam-Osigwe. The late Michael was until his death, the 
Co-ordinator General of the Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation and a member
 of its Board of Trustees.<br />
<br />
His father, Emmanuel, was reputed as one of the first Nigerian investors
 in the oil sector, while his sister, Peace, started the annual Africa 
Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.<br />
<br />
The victim was said to be on his way to an engagement in Nkwerre, his 
home town in Imo State on Saturday, when suspected armed robbers 
attacked his car on the Ore-Benin Road.<br />
<br />
It was gathered that he was shot in the chest during the attack.<br />

Punch learnt that he was rushed to the EKO Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, 
where he began receiving treatment for gunshot injuries. However, he was
 said to have given up the ghost on Sunday evening, after the doctors at
 the hospital tried in vain to save his life.<br />

A statement by one of his six brothers, Charles, confirmed the incident:<br />
“With grief and deep sense of sorrow, but with total submission to the 
will of the Almighty God who gives and recalls, the Anyiam-Osigwe family
 announces the untimely passing to eternal glory of Nze Michael 
Anyiam-Osigwe.<br />
<br />
“Michael was killed by armed robbers who operated on the Ore-Benin Road,
 near the Okada Junction, in the afternoon of 29th November 2014 at 
about 2.30pm.”<br />
<br />
He is survived by his mother, wife, Okiemute, five children, six brothers and a sister, among others.</div>

"But I told him that the generation before mine was the one that fought for our independence. Whichever way we want to criticise them, they gave us independence. Then my generation which you say is not good, fought the civil war. We fought for the unity of Nigeria and if we did not do so, you probably would need a visa to travel to Kano or Port Harcourt. Not only that but that generation also established the foundation of democracy.      "So what do you claim your generation has achieved? It is part of it. We have seen what successive leaders of each generation have done, what can we say about you? What can we say about your generation?"   Obasanjo, who noted that he attended the Ijero Baptist Church for the first time in 1946, said that the fact that the church was still standing after 100 years was worth celebrating.  The minister in charge, Rev. Olayemi Aderibigbe, who also inaugurated the Ijero Baptist Church History Book, urged youths to continue to build on the good which the church had done over the years so as to be able to give a lasting legacy to the next generation. </div>

The police in Lagos have arrested two armed robbery suspects who 
specialised in robbing motorists on the highway and snatching expensive 
vehicles. According to Punch, the suspects, John Sunday and Onyekachi 
Oshonu, were arrested by operatives of the SARS on Friday, November 21.<br />
<br />
It was learnt that Sunday, 25, and Oshonu, 24, were nabbed in their hideout in Agege area of Lagos.<br />
<br />
According to the police, information reached the command on same Friday 
that some robbers had converged on a hideout and were planning to 
unleash terror on the area. Subsequently, decoy detectives from SARS 
were said to have bust the hideout and arrested the duo, while other 
gang members fled.<br />

took to robbery to source funds for his yet-to-be-released album.</blockquote>

was planning to release my first album, but there was no money. It was 
where I was putting up as a commercial driver that I met Onyeka. We were
 plying Agege to the Oshodi area.<br />

“Later, we met the gang. They told us they were planning to go out, 
snatch some cars, sell them and make money. So, we joined. We usually 
robbed with two locally–made guns. We did not have a pistol. We went for
 the first operation, but we were arrested after the second.<br />
<br />
“I love music, and I was looking for money to establish myself as a musician.”<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Oshonu, who hailed from Enugu State, added that their guns 
were with a third member of the gang, identified simply as Oguchi, who 
was one of the fleeing gang members.<br />
<br />
“I have gone on only two operations. I don’t use a gun. The gang member 
who has the two guns has not been arrested yet. I was formerly driving a
 commercial bus in the Agege area. I just married this year, and I 
needed to take care of my family,” he said.<br />
<br />
A revolver pistol was recovered from the suspects. They will appear in court soon.</div>
