Tambuwal Calls For Unity, National Cohesion At Sallah

 of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has 
urged leaders at all levels to make necessary sacrifice that will 
enhance unity and national cohesion.<br />

According to the speaker, the period of Eid-el-Kabir provides a new 
opportunity to show love and compassion, especially for the less 
privileged.<br />

In his Sallah message issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media
 and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal urged Muslim faithful and
 indeed all Nigerians to view the Sallah celebration as a call for love,
 care and promotion of peace in line with the teachings of Prophet 
Muhammad (SAW).<br />

He also said as the 2015 general election approaches, politicians 
must subject themselves to the rules of the game, and urged them to shun
 acts capable of breaching the existing peace.<br />

The speaker equally wished all Nigerians a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.</div>

to a head as the taxi stopped in Top Valley, Nottingham.</span></span></div>

Mansfield before falling out. Mr Gimson said: "The taxi driver recalls
Scott Humphrey was accusing Richard Rovetto of contacting his girlfriend in the
past and doing so via Facebook.</span></span></div>

Nottingham, admitted manslaughter and was jailed for four years and four

you and him went out that evening, violence and death were the furthest things

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">"You didn't intend to kill him. Part of the tragedy is
that it's left to chance what happens. There will be a fight like this somewhere

genuinely remorseful about his actions. He will never forget that day. As soon
as Scott Humphrey heard about what had happened to Richard Rovetto, he was
devastated.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">"He has been very candid and admitted this offence from
the very start."</span></span></div>

Jason Burley-Evans, 42, of Bestwood Park, said: "This was a waste of a
life. We feel the sentence wasn't the justice we wanted for Richard. He was a
much-loved person and it will be hard for us all to move on."</span></span></div>

Brave soldiers who fought without wages, good food, accommodation and 
gear; our brave military men from across Nigeria who signed up to defend
 Nigeria against foreign threats but were now recruited to fight and die
 defending Nigeria against the deadly internal threats sponsored by 
governors and other politician friends of the Nigerian President who he 
dines, travels and dances with.</div>

Brave military men who were sabotaged by their army chiefs, the likes of
 the named General Ihejirika; these men have been sentenced to death for
 all they went through for Nigeria, while Boko Haram terrorists are 
given life sentences to continue their existence and possibly escape or 
be pardoned as is the nature of Nigeria.</blockquote>

These 12 soldiers shot at their commander- Maj. Gen. Abubakar Mohammed –
 now fired according to some accounts– for him directly leading to the 
death of over two dozen of their friends the night before and many 
others over the months of the war. The soldiers had pleaded to camp out 
and return to base the next day because it was risky driving late 
through Boko Haram territory, however the now removed army GOC told them
 to drive to Maimalari barracks that night against common sense. Boko 
Haram ambushed and killed over two dozen brave Nigerian soldiers and 
friends of the 12 who were accused of the mutiny action.<br />
<br />
These killed were fathers, mothers, brothers and sons of Nigerians. No 
one would stand for justice for them. We know Nigeria; there is no 
provision for the army GOC who directed them to their death to be 
punished; nor for the illegally operating army Chief, ex-General 
Ihejirika (who was not confirmed by the Senate and hence was in office 
and heading the army illegally; grand treason exposed by Attorney Keyamo
 whose court victory against Jonathan forced the President to retire the
 army Chiefs in January of 2014 within the 14 day ultimatum Keyamo 
gave), to be held to account. </div>

Yes, in no way will Ihejirika and his fellow army chiefs and the 
Presidency, who looted all the funds for the better protection of these 
soldiers and enabled the transfer of Nigeria’s best weapons and tanks to
 the terrorists to use to kill civilians and soldiers alike, be held to 
account for sabotaging them and appointing a Boko Haram friendly army 
commander to deliver them to death daily as has been the nature of the 
war. [Top level army sabotage reported by VOA; BBC, SaharaReporters, 
NewsRescue, ENDS and all other observers].<br />
<br />
In Cameroon this week, the Mayor of Fotokol was reportedly arrested for 
being a Boko Haram sponsor; but in 5 Jonathan-Boko Haram years, not a 
single politician has been held to account for Boko Haram, despite all 
the evidence the public has against so many Nigerian politicians who are
 rather the best friends of the President. Our soldiers are being held 
to phony “standards” by murderers, criminals and terror sponsors, 
including our Senators or better put, Sinators who upheld the sentence. 
Cash intoxicated soul-less, alive appearing walking carcasses, who 
should not even be allowed to judge disputes between toddlers.<br />
<br />
These 12 stood up in keeping with their pledge to Nigeria – to defend 
her unity, uphold her honor and glory; they were faithful, loyal and 
honest; and the next action they had to take was to do their best to try
 to kill Ihejirika’s man; the Boko Haram in army uniform. It is no news 
that on several missions when soldiers take different routes from where 
the army commanders tell them, the route they avoided is later found to 
have been rigged with Boko Haram terrorists laying in ambush. There are 
too numerous accounts of how the army chiefs have been promoting Boko 
Haram carnage and enabling the deaths of our civilians and soldiers 
alike. Where the army was told to stand down and supervise villages 
being ravaged for hours on end. </div>

But rather than be held to account for these, the army chiefs were this 
year, allocated billions of dollars worth of land as bribe by the 
Jonathan government from the public property land of the Nigerian army, 
set aside to build army barracks in Abuja. They and their family members
 took home thousands of plots worth millions of dollars each. Even 
Kudirat’s killer, Al Mustapha got his. And the brave 12 soldiers were 
sentenced to death, in this same land, under God’s watchful eye. While 
Boko Haram terrorists who have killed many are begged with amnesty 
offers and given light life sentences by the Jonathan government.

When you look at it all, you see the devil. You get to understand why 
Sage Fela sang of similar times in Nigeria’s past, that – when he was 
inside prison, he called that actually the inside world. The way Satan 
runs Nigeria through his men in government, prison is unfortunately the 
sanest place to be. At least in prison you have the excuse of not being 
of the population who votes for people like the Jonathans who were 
already indicted by the EFCC in 2006 of looting and laundering millions 
of dollars; or re-electing convicted criminals like Fayose in Ekiti. </div>

Inside prison, you are excused of being part of this sick world where 
terrorists like Al Mustapha and Dokubo Asari are not in prison, but are 
flown around in government presidential jets and given land allocations 
in Abuja and billions of naira “contracts,” while our brave, cheated and
 betrayed soldiers are sentenced to their deaths. Aso rock is indeed not
 vacant: it is filled with unabashed robbers, gangsters and certified 
terrorists. The devil rules… this must be hell.<br />

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos has said that the true heroes behind
 Nigeria’s success in curtailing the spread of the dreaded Ebola Virus 
Disease are not those campaigning across the country.<br />

In his Independence Day address in Lagos, Wednesday, Fashola said that 
credit of defeating Ebola should not be taken away from the health 
workers who curtailed the virus, especially in Lagos State.<br />
<br />
President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP have been citing the Ebola success as part of their achievement.<br />

But Fashola said: “I have heard some stories emanating from campaign podiums with claims of conquering Ebola. <span style="color: #cc0000;">The question we must ask is whether those who make these claims saw Ebola</span>? </blockquote>

“It is women like Stella Ameyo Adedevoh to whom such a claim rightly 
belongs. It is young Nigerians like Dr. Morris Ibeawuchi, who first made
 contact with the index case patient and continued to treat him, who saw
 and conquered Ebola. He got infected, from doing his job, got sick, 
survived and is back to his job.</blockquote>

“It is first responders from the Lagos State Ministry of Health like Dr.
 Jide Idris, Dr. Yewande Adesina, Dr. Wale Ahmed, Dr. Kayode Oguntimehin
 who saw Ebola. </blockquote>

“They responded to the call from First Consultant Hospital. They spent 
12 (Twelve) hours daily in the early days supervising the construction 
of Ebola containment facility [in Lagos] when the epidemic broke. </blockquote>

epicenter of Ebola management used to house tuberculosis patients and 
patients with infectious diseases.<br />
“Those patients vented their anger on these people when they had to be

having cleared and cleaned the room. He admitted and cared for the 
patients before any Nigerian doctor joined him.<br />

“Professor S. A. Omilabu, the dedicated virologist at LUTH, saw Ebola 
and conquered it. He coordinated the fault free testing for Ebola and 
managed all the samples professionally.<br />

“Peter Adewuyi saw Ebola and conquered it. He led the contact tracing 
team of many dedicated officers for the first 2 (two) weeks.<br />
<br />
“Mrs. Funmi Lagbokun, Mrs. Modupe Aiyedun Davies, Mrs. Basirat Adeoye, 
Ms F. O. Bamgboye, Mrs. K. O. Oshisanya, Mrs. Kazeem Abioye, Mrs. Abiola
 Lasaki and Mrs. K. Adeshina all saw and conquered Ebola.<br />
<br />
“They were the dedicated team of nurses, nursing aid, care giver, health
 assistant and hygienist who commenced work voluntarily in the Ebola 
containment ward without any demand other than the sense of duty.<br />
<br />
“Yemi Gbadegesin and Abdulsalam saw and conquered Ebola.<br />
<br />
“They coordinated the de-contamination, removal and burial of the index 
case and other cases, and it is because of them that First Consultant 
can re-open for business.<br />

“Dear Lagosians, these were the people who saw and defeated Ebola. Let no person tell you otherwise.<br />
<br />
“These men and women, who showed courage, who risked their lives are our true champions and heroes.<br />
<br />
“They showed the spirit of service, the spirit of Lagos and the spirit 
of our 'good old days'. Nobody should take this credit away from them.<br />
<br />
“They are not celebrating because they know that the work is not 
finished. They are already working with our people and planning to 
volunteer to go and give help in Sierra Leone and Liberia."<br />

Fashola added that, “Their reward for hard work will be more work and they tell me that they are ready."</div>

The
 Sallah started on a sour note for three villages in Adamawa State, as 
Boko Haram attacked and killed about 70 residents in Michika Local 
Government Area in a renewed attack.<br />The Islamic insurgent group also destroyed their houses and farmlands.</div>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />Among the villages attacked is Kuborshosho, the 
village of former governor of the state and Minister Youths Development,
 Mr. Boni Haruna, who lost close relations, one of whom was a 
99-year-old man, who was slaughtered by the dreaded group.<br />The other villages they attacked are Kubi, Garta and others, were still under attack as at the time of filing this report.<br /><br />
Saturday Sun authoritatively gathered that many houses were razed, including the family house of former Governor Haruna.<br /><br />
According to report, four of the former minister’s uncles, aged aunties, nieces and their siblings narrowly escaped
 death by the whiskers as good Nigerians evacuated them from the 
war-torn zones of Michika and its environs to Yola, the state capital.<br /><br />
According
 to sources, the villages were attacked on Thursday night through 
Friday, and the insurgents went further to attack those who escaped to 
the mountains.<br /><br />
As at time of filling this reports, sympathisers, who 
had gathered at the residence of the minister, condemned the attack and 
appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action towards stopping 
the evil activities of the Islamic sect.<br /><br />
Farmlands ready for harvest 
were destroyed, while shops and warehouses belonging to the residents, 
were burgled and precious items carted away be the insurgents.

they had. My son won a dance and fashion competition and I felt very

 of other mothers. I eventually got him a gift for that and I am sure 
that it would go a long way in his life and anytime I have such 
opportunity, I do it with pride.</span><br />

sometimes to show they have money but mine is not for that; neither is 
it because of old age, God just did it for me and it is very nice.</span><br />

thing. I can change anytime and try not to be too formal. I am a jeans 
and t-shirt kind of person. If I wake up one morning and realise I have a
 lot of money, I would dress in a very simple manner; my dressing would 
be so down to earth you would wonder what is wrong with me. But when I 
am broke, that is when I love to look very sharp. It depends on my mood 
and I don’t have a particular colour as favourite, although I have 
observed that whenever I want to pick a shirt, I readily go for blue. I 
might decide to wear native attire all through a week and the following 
week, I can opt for shorts all through. I don’t like to be too flashy 
because I believe the Funsho Adeolu in me is already flashy to make too 
much noise about.</span><br />

 used to keep a punk in those days and I loved it but right now, low cut
 is very comfortable for me but I don’t think my hairstyle is enough to 
project the perception I want people to have of me. I get a lot of 
compliments because of the beard I keep; people say I look good with it.
 Ironically, if I shave, I feel old. I really don’t listen to what 
people say. Once I look at my mirror and I feel I look alright, that is 
good enough for me. I only listen to the opinion of the director when I 
am on set and it has to do with my character in the movie. I listen 
because at that moment, he is my boss. Apart from God, I am my boss 
outside location; once I am contented with what I see in the mirror and 
my wife says I look cool, I am good to go.</span><br />

stressful for me but I like African beads and accessories. I don’t want

daughter’s passing, it merely confirmed what she had seen in a vision 
during prayer.<br />

She spoke glowingly of her daughter’s faith, “She loved the Lord so 
much. She was unique. One thing that I know – she was a child of God. 
She was set apart. I didn’t know that it was for this. I know that her 
death is not in vain. South Africa will never be the same.”<br />

Today, she waits patiently for her daughter’s remains to be brought 
home, acknowledging that the incident has actually moved her and the 
family as a whole closer to God.<br />

<strong>Recent sc*ndals rocking the most popular Nigerian churches 
prompt our fellow Nigerians to ponder upon the difference between true 
dedication and entrepreneurship. Naij’s guest contributor Gabriel 
Osamwonyi, in his opinion piece called <em>“T. B. Joshua, Pressmen, and Hush Money,”</em> tries to determine where the boundary lies between faith and money.</strong></div>

  “Nicholas Ibekwe, a journalist with an Abuja-based online 
newspaper, Premium Times, recently alleged that T.B. Joshua, the 
clerical point man of one of the most popular Nigerian churches, The 
Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), gave journalists hush money, 
commonly known as <em>‘brown envelope’</em>. According to Mr. Ibekwe, it
 was a ploy of spin control, which undermines journalistic obligation of
 disseminating objective information and the public’s need to know. 
Hence, he refused to accept the inducement.<br /><br />
“Soon after the audio recording of the saga was released on Twitter, 
it went viral. Expectedly, T.B. Joshua’s vast network of allies and 
sympathisers unleashed their arsenal of psychological warfare against 
Nicholas Ibekwe. They failed to ask if it is ethical for a religious 
leader to give a brown envelope. Or, if journalists could collect money 
from news sources, yet, avoid conflict of interest and maintain 
credibility. Sadly, they did not make intelligent efforts to refute Mr. 
Ibekwe’s claim with facts. Most of the reactions suggest that in 
religious issues, passion frequently trumps reason<strong>.</strong><br /><br />
“Again, the reactions were a sordid dramatisation of an erroneous 
perception. It is a point of honour to condone the misdemeanours of 
leaders of Nigerian churches. Exposing them is treacherous. This 
thinking is hinged on a misunderstanding of the scriptural injunction, <em>‘touch not my anointed’</em>. In fact, some Christians equate polite, nonjudgmental comments about clerical malfeasances with <em>‘the unpardonable sin’</em>.
 They think it is a taboo to lovingly admonish religious leaders via 
news media. Refusal to keep mute when a religious charlatan behaves 
badly makes one an anti-Christ, enemy of the church, and accuser of the 
brethren. This ought not to be. We should expect and demand 
accountability from leaders. Otherwise, it would create room for the 
spirit of lawlessness to rule.<br />

“In our beloved nation, it is easy to bury scandal. It is easy to transform villains to men of honour. The axiom <em>‘You cannot carve an image from a rotten wood’</em>
 seems counterfactual. Very often, the embodiments of depravity are 
portrayed in public as champions of ethics. Surprisingly, the positive 
portrayals are mostly done by men of power and men who are entrusted 
with the sacred responsibility of edifying society’s conscience. It is 
hardly done by their uncritical fandom.<br />
<br />
“Brown envelope is now a 
critical determinant of newsworthiness. It is one of the downsides of 
the commercialisation of news. The need to inform the public is not 
accorded due priority compared with the need to make profit. Poorly paid
 journalists are likely to put self-interest above public interest. They
 are likely to compromise the news principles of accuracy, fairness, 
objectivity and timeliness when news sources induce them.<br /><br />
“If the alleged giving of brown envelope by T. B. Joshua is true, it 
would be right to say, he does not subscribe to the high ethical 
principles of the ex-Anglican primate, late Abiodun Adetiloye. Reports 
have it that some journalists once interviewed the late Archbishop at 
the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, on a range of topical national 
issues. At the end, the journalists requested for brown envelope. He 
blatantly refused to give them. Consequently, the interview was not 
published, even though he made newsworthy comments.<br /><br />
“The spirit of investigative journalism is stifled where brown 
envelope syndrome rules. Brown envelope is a muffler of vital voices. It
 triggers half-hearted commitment to factual information dissemination. 
It is near impossible for a journalist to join the crusade against 
injustice and corruption, if he is a collector of hush money. Instead of
 being a watchdog, he would be a pet dog on the laps of people of 
affluence and influence, and thereby, lend support to the reign of 
impunity.<br /><br />
“Nigerian churches and the media are vital institutions that should 
promote principled living, stem decadence, and guide government along 
ethical paths of sustainable and inclusive growth. When their operators 
are allegedly enmeshed in corrupt practices, they cannot perform these 
roles. Their commitment to the uplift of humanity will begin to wane.<br /><br />
“The above partly explains why Nigerian churches are not a potent 
force in the war against corruption. Again, there are few genuine 
pastors and too many self-serving church operators. Self-enrichment by 
bewitchment is their true mission statement. Twisted truth is their 
stock-in-trade and instrument of control. On the other hand, true 
pastors inspire people to follow their lead by harnessing the 
transformational power of love to create a better world for mankind.<br /><br />
“The subtext of the messages of a church operator that bewitches his 
followers with the splendour of material opulence would most likely be: <em>‘Get rich or die trying’. </em>If you fail to experience <em>‘financial breakthrough’</em>, his explanation would be, <em>‘You have not given your Isaac’</em>.<br /><br />
“Wealth-amassing church operators are the exact opposite of genuine 
pastors. They are everything a good pastor is not. A good pastor is 
committed to strengthening the ethical basis of people-centred progress,
 while religious entrepreneurs exploit ethical loopholes in society for 
their private gains. Church operators have no qualms giving brown 
envelope, if it will conceal facts and burnish their image<strong>.</strong><br /><br />
“Religious entrepreneurs with Nigerian churches lack functional understanding of the culture-transforming mandate of the church<strong>.</strong>
 Hence, they hardly play transformational roles in society, state and 
government. Rather, they collect money from government functionaries. 
Thereafter, fight shamelessly over how it will be shared. A good example
 is Governor Kayode Fayemi’s five million naira donation to a church 
which virtually led to its split. It is worth repeating: Transforming 
culture is a core task of the 21<sup>st</sup> century church, not filling stadia, consorting with men of power, creating star systems, or fighting over money.<br /><br />
 “A church that fails to rise beyond the extant culture of its 
environment will be loved by power-mongers, miracle and fun-seekers. 
Simply because it does not disturb the status quo. Such a church at best
 will function like a refrigerator that preserves perishables instead of
 an incubator where culture-changing leaders are developed and released 
to uplift humanity to higher spheres of meaning.<br /><br />
“Obviously, many Nigerian churches fit into the refrigerator model as
 they strive to outdo each other in the art of whitewashing the decadent
 rich. Religious leaders are now the finest image-makers of pilferers of
 public treasuries. Thanksgiving services are often organised to enhance
 the political capital of integrity-deficient rulers. Televised prayer 
meetings are held to put seals of divine endorsement on the ambitions of
 political rascals.<br /><br />
“If the devil could run for an elective office here, Nigerian 
churches’ operators would unhesitatingly anoint him as the people’s 
messiah, and give brown envelope to their allies in the media to do the 
same.<br /><br />
“It is said that the battle for Nigeria’s independence was fought and
 won on the pages of newspapers. Given the predominance of the <em>‘brown envelope syndrome’</em>,
 we cannot optimistically say that Nigeria’s war against corruption will
 be fought and won on the pages of newspaper. It is difficult to say it 
will be fought and won on the pulpit, simply because many religious 
leaders are enmeshed in corruption.<br /><br />
“If Nigeria is to take her due place of glory in the comity of 
nations, Nigerian churches’ operators and media practitioners must leave
 the league of ethically compromised fortune hunters and awaken to their
 social responsibilities of humanising savage politicians, edifying the 
public mind, fighting corruption and promoting equity, fairness and 
justice, which are the lifeblood of peaceful and prosperous

Speaking to Telegraph on Thursday, he revealed that the killer 
disease could mutate and become airborne; a development he feared would 
make the epidemic much harder to curb.<br />

Branbury explained that the longer the virus moves around in its 
human hosts in the virulent melting pot that is West Africa, the more 
chances increase that it could mutate.<br />

<em>“It is a nightmare scenario that it could become airborne, and unlikely, but it can’t be ruled out,”</em> Branbury said.<br /><br />
Meanwhile, the UN Ebola chief gave this mouth opening revelation 
before America recorded its first case of Ebola in Dallas, Texas.<br /><br />
However, William Schaffner, a Vanderbilt University infectious 
diseases expert in a response to the earlier tension that Ebola could go
 airborne, told Scientific American that there were already several 
problems associating with Ebola and urged people not to make things 
worse.<br />

<em>“We have so many problems with Ebola, let’s not make another one 
that, of course, is theoretically possible but is pretty way down on the
 list of likely issues. Everything that is happening now can easily be 
comprehensively explained by person-to-person spread via body contact. 
We don’t have to invoke anything else,”</em> Schaffner said.<br /><br />
According to the World Health Organisatio, WHO, the recent Ebola 
outbreak is the largest in history. A new figure released by the Centers
 for Disease Control showed that the disease had infected about 7,000 
people and had so far claimed the lives of about 3,300 people.<br />

The virus is contracted through body fluids; a development that made 
isolation of patients very imperative and the most reliable way of curb 
its spread.<br /><br />
It was reported that infectious disease experts had earlier expressed
 fears of the deadly virus going airborne before but researchers after 
carefully examining the possibility concluded that though it is 
physically possible, but such a mutation is highly unlikely to happen.<br />

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has revealed the 
true heroes of the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease EVD, in 
Nigeria.<br />

It would be recalled that on October 2, 2014, it was reported that 
following the current panic in America over the reported outbreak of the
 deadly Ebola Virus Disease EVD, in Dallas, Texas, the United States 
government has sent medical experts to Nigeria to study how the country 
was able to quickly halt the spread of EVD.

 They hurriedly went to bury it claiming that the calf would bring them 
bad luck and that it was already dead when it was born. They said the

highlight the excessive use of pesticides in the region and it got 
online. When locals saw it they grew suspicious and said it wasn't 
pesticide at all, but someone in the household had been having s*x with a
