Ogunsanya is attached to the Ikoyi Police Division.</div>

The taxi driver, Ndubuisi Iheaka, told our correspondent that after he opened his boot which contained scaffolding belts, the policeman demanded to see his driving licence.<o:p></o:p></div>

“Because of what she said, the policeman asked them to come down from the cab. This started an argument. The next thing I saw was that the policeman pulled my passenger (Ejeh) by his trousers, and his wife went to plead with him to stop.<o:p></o:p></div>

“But instead, he slapped her and punched her husband. He was wearing a ring, which inflicted a deep cut on Ejeh’s face. After that, he used the butt of his gun to hit him in his eye and face. He also dragged his wife on the road.”<o:p></o:p></div>

“If I was pregnant that night, I would have lost my pregnancy. I was only trying to pet him to leave my husband since he did not have business with us. I told him to face the cab driver and leave us alone. “The other policemen were just looking at him while he dragged me on the ground. A man riding a tricycle at the time was the one who rescued me. He said the policemen must call their Divisional Police Officer or else he would not leave the scene,” she said.<o:p></o:p></div>

Ejeh claimed he could barely see because blood was dripping from his eyes, while his wife was vomiting blood. He added that the DPO ordered that they be taken to the station to make statements.<o:p></o:p></div>

He said, “But we told her that we needed to first treat ourselves before we could make statements. His wife claimed that the DPO seized her phone and asked an inspector at the station to delete all the pictures and video recording she did of the incident.<o:p></o:p></div>

“Even my personal data were deleted. And when I asked the DPO why she did that, she said we deserved the treatment we got. She said she would have locked us up in the cell if not for our injuries. She said we did not know how to talk,” she added.<o:p></o:p></div>

The legal officer of a non-governmental organisation, Project Alert on Violence Against Women, Mr. Ben Odeh, said the police officer responsible for the act should be disciplined for torturing the couple.<o:p></o:p></div>

Amaka Igwe’s death on April 28th, 2014 dealt a fatal blow to the 
Nigerian film industry as we perceive it. Amaka was one of the few 
cinematographic geniuses Nollywood could boast of. She owned Top Radio 
90.9 FM as well as Q Entertainment, the first Nigerian drama series 
channel. She was the mastermind behind the Fuji House of Commotion 
series which got numerous Nigerians glued to their television screens 
every Sunday evening. The timing was always too small for all of us that
 grew up watching fun figures like Chief and Ireti knock us out with 
laughter and commercials were regarded with utmost scorn. Her other 
motion works include Violated, Checkmate and Rattle Snake which were all
 major crowd pleasers. Amaka Igwe who died at the age of 51 is survived 
by her husband and her three children.<br />

The Branama Queen, Kefee whose real name was Irikefe Don Momoh was a 
gospel superstar that won the hearts of many.  She was a shining light 
to many who were touched by her unique music. She reportedly collapsed 
on a flight to Chicago in the United States of America on May 28, 2014 
forcing the plane to make an emergency landing and she was eventually 
rushed into the Intensive Care Unit of an hospital in Los Angeles. She 
however gave up the ghost in the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2014 at
 the Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas. Kefee had a powerful voice that
 she made good use of. Her hit song Kokoroko featuring Timaya crossed 
gospel borders and was also well received by secular pundits. Almost 
every church choir in Nigeria has got church goers dancing with Kefee’s 
songs. Her music is timeless and will be remembered for decades to come.<br />

revolutionized the food and drugs sector and went on to become the 
Minister of Information and Communication from 2008 till 2010. She died 
at the age of 59 and is survived by friends and family. She will forever
 be remembered for her dogged approach in putting an end to the scourge 
of fake drugs and food items that plagued the Nigerian nation for years.<br />

Adadevoh was a true Nigerian heroine who helped our country immensely 
through the singular act of preventing Ebola index patient, Patrick 
Sawyer, from leaving the hospital he was quarantined in and spreading it
 to every Tom, Dick and Harry on the streets of Lagos. She died after 
contracting the disease from Sawyer.<br />
Ameyo was one individual with a legacy etched into her veins as the 
blood that ran through them could be linked to her great grandfather, 
Herbert Macaulay, a Nigerian nationalistic icon. She who post-humously 
given the 2014 Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) Integrity award in
 recognition for her efforts in reducing the spread of the Ebola Virus 
Disease in Nigeria. When people remember how the fear of Ebola came to 
be the beginning of wisdom, they will also remember the woman who saved 
over 170 million lives by a singular act.<br />

The broadcasting icon whose real name was Charles Bruce Chukwuma took 
control of the airwaves on Rhythm 93.7 FM with his programme, Sharing 
Life Issues With Chaz B which aired every Monday to Friday at 5.30-7.oo 
pm. A lot of people needing inspiration and trying to get a handle on 
life turned to Chaz B’s soothing voice for direction and comfort. His 
impressive work on the show earned him the award for Best On Air 
Personality in Radio at the 2010 Nigerian Media Merit Awards. He died 
late Novermber, 2014 after fighting a protracted illness.<br />

Charles touched an infinite number of lives, many he never even knew 
existed. The Delta State born broadcaster consulted on management turn 
around in the hotel and entertainment sectors in Nigeria. His impact on 
the Nigerian media cannot be overemphasized.<br />

Nollywood rookie, Clem Onyeka had just began to find his feet in the 
Nigerian movie when his life ended in a very tragic way. He was shot 
dead in Asaba on October 14th and he died from a stray bullet that hit 
him as a fierce gun fight ensued between officers of the law and armed 
robbers. In a phone call with The Sun, his friend and colleague, Zubechi
 Onyia said “I am sad that Clem died when he should be celebrated as the
 best up-and-coming actor this year. It was painful watching Clem die!” 
Onyeka was one actor who had begun to make a mark and his death came as a
 shock to all. He died on the set of a movie so it could be said that he
 died doing the thing that he loved.</div>

Fear was sent down the spine of everyone today in Adeke in  Osun state 
yesterday when a dead body was found in an uncompleted building.<br />
Someone from Bowen University, Iwo Town in Osun state sent these pictures to me.<br />
The corpse of a girl was found beheaded in an uncompleted building.<br />
The Old man who found this body told the press today that he works in 
the building, so on his way to work that morning, he discovered the 
corpse and raised an alarm immediately.<br />
The body was taken to Adeke Police station.<br />
This should be a warning to all those girls who follow guys to 
uncompleted buildings.. This is December and a lot of ritualists are in 
search of heads<br />

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber, Amos 
Kuesi, who said he thought he was smuggling hemp and not guns before he 
was arrested.<br />PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was arrested on 
Thursday, November 27, by policemen attached to the Pen Cinema Division 
while on patrol.<br />Our correspondent gathered that while another gang 
member, identified simply as Sotin, evaded arrest, 24-year-old Kuesi was
 apprehended and subsequently transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery 
Squad, Ikeja, for further interrogation.</div>
<br />
According to the police, two revolver pistols with 
four live cartridges and a bag of Indian hemp were recovered during a 
search on a commercial bus around the Pen Cinema/Agege Roundabout.<br />Speaking
 with PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, Kuesi, a native of Ogoni, Rivers State, 
confessed that he and Sotin were heading for Mile 2 when he was 
arrested.<br /><br />
He, however, said he did not know he was carrying any gun. 
He explained that it was after the police discovered the guns that he 
realised that those who gave him the hemp to deliver to a man in Mile 2 
hid guns in the package.<br /><br />
He said, “I travelled to Port Harcourt to 
see some friends. I went with Sotin. On our way back, I was given a 
package and I was told it contained hemp. I was asked to deliver it to a
 man in the Mile 2 area of Lagos. I did not know the Port Harcourt boys 
also hid guns and live cartridges inside the bag.<br /><br />
“The bag was placed
 in the boot of the bus I boarded from Port Harcourt to Lagos. If only I
 knew the content of the bag included guns, I would not have agreed to 
deliver it. They gave me the man’s phone number adding that he would pay
 me N50,000.<br /><br />
“But while heading for Oshodi through Agege, some policemen searched us. Sotin ran away, but the policemen arrested me.”<br /><br />
Kuesi,
 who said his fiance had no idea he was a member of a robbery gang, 
added that it was some financial difficulties which forced him into 
joining the gang.<br /><br />
He said, “I used to work as a generator repairer. I
 was living fine until some months ago when I ran into financial 
difficulties. That was how I was introduced to the gang by one Ifeanyi. I
 knew them as casual friends. I did not know they were robbers.”<br /><br />
The 
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, 
confirmed the arrest of Kuesi, adding that investigations were ongoing 
on the matter.<br /><br />

All the contenders came from different groups that pooled their angst 
with the way Nigeria was running to arrive at APC. The differences 
tended to stand against the party, particularly when the issue was the 
presidential candidate.<br />

Former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice 
President Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, Governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu 
Kwankwaso, Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, and newspaper 
publisher, Sam Nda-Isaiah have spent months canvassing their 
qualifications for the APC top ticket. They are all qualified as the 
party showed in accepting their aspirations.<br />
<br />
APC faced many battles to this point. The party’s internal democracy, or
 its absence, as in all the parties, came to the fore again. The 
aspirants’ agreement to remain in APC was a great strategy to keep the 
party intact into the general elections in February. With the 
multiplicity of new interests, in an organisation in its formative 
stages, APC has more issues of fairness to aspirants to settle than its 
main opponent, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<br />
<br />
Two key issues that easily collapse into one – the North-South dichotomy
 and religion – are constants in APC’s troubles. The fusion of different
 parties that represented different interests has been trying for APC, 
in addition to avoiding the religious tag opponents hang on it. All the 
candidates seem to sing the same tunes in their manifesto. They have 
progressive agenda for Nigerians, whose plight they blame on almost 16 
years of PDP domination of governments across the country. These sound 
nice when there is a common enemy, another political party.<br />
<br />
As chronicled by Vanguard, whoever wins the primaries presents the next 
set of challenges for APC. The peculiarity of each aspirant is the 
challenge. The first task is the choice of the vice presidential 
candidate. Ordinarily, the appeal of the vice presidential candidate, 
his broad acceptance in the party, his attractiveness to voters, and 
willingness to work with the presidential candidate should be factors.<br />
<br />
The politics of religion and zoning of offices have overtaken these 
considerations. APC would conclude its primaries as one, but the 
intrigues from its opaque practices, would continue to challenge it.<br />
<br />

unbelievable. Mr. Ejeh Smith, a 29yrs old photographer and his wife, 
26yrs old Grace, are in pains and receiving treatment at a Lagos 
hospital after a police officer, identified as Dada Ogunsanya, allegedly
 tortured them with his rifle.<br />

Police Officer Ogunsanya is attached to the Ikoyi Police Division.<br />
<br />
The incident happened at the Lekki Roundabout last week Wednesday while 
the couple was in a taxi en route to their home at Parkview Estate.<br />

The Punch reported that the police officer was among a seven-man team, 
patrolling the area around 10pm. The police team was said to have 
stopped the taxi driver and demanded that he opened his boot for a 
routine check...</blockquote>

The taxi driver, Ndubuisi Iheaka, said after he opened his boot which 
contained scaffolding belts, the policeman demanded to see his driving 
licence.<br />
<br />
“I was about getting the driving licence when he started flashing his 
torchlight on my passengers who were sitting at the back. The wife told 
the officer not to flash the torch on them since the inner light of the 
vehicle was on.<br />
<br />
“Because of what she said, the policeman asked them to come down from 
the cab. This started an argument. The next thing I saw was that the 
policeman pulled my passenger (Ejeh) by his trousers, and his wife went 
to plead with him to stop.<br />
<br />
“But instead, he slapped her and punched her husband. He was wearing a 
ring, which inflicted a deep cut on Ejeh’s face. After that, he used the
 butt of his gun to hit him in his eye and face. He also dragged his 
wife on the road.”<br />
<br />
Grace said the policeman, apart from slapping her, stepped on her tummy.<br />
<br />
“If I was pregnant that night, I would have lost my pregnancy. I was 
only trying to pet him to leave my husband since he did not have 
business with us. I told him to face the cab driver and leave us alone. 
“The other policemen were just looking at him while he dragged me on the
 ground. A man riding a tricycle at the time was the one who rescued me.
 He said the policemen must call their Divisional Police Officer or else
 he would not leave the scene,” she said.<br />
<br />
The Ikoyi DPO, Mrs. Aisha Haruna, was said to have arrived at the scene.<br />
<br />
Ejeh claimed he could barely see because blood was dripping from his 
eyes, while his wife was vomiting blood. He added that the DPO ordered 
that they be taken to the station to make statements.<br />
<br />
He said, “But we told her that we needed to first treat ourselves before
 we could make statements. That was when we were given forms and 
referred to the Falomo Police Hospital. We paid for the treatment and we
 also went to the eye clinic for treatment.”<br />
<br />
His wife claimed that the DPO seized her phone and asked an inspector at
 the station to delete all the pictures and video recording she did of 
the incident.<br />
<br />
“Even my personal data were deleted. And when I asked the DPO why she 
did that, she said we deserved the treatment we got. She said she would 
have locked us up in the cell if not for our injuries. She said we did 
not know how to talk,” she added.<br />
<br />
The family lawyer of the victims, Mr. Sunday Agbinya, said his office 
would write a petition to the Inspector General of Police to redress the
 wrong done to his clients.<br />
<br />
“This is a case of assault occasioning harm and we intend to challenge 
it. We will send a petition to the IG. We want the police to conduct a 
full investigation into this,” he said.<br />
<br />
The legal officer of a non-governmental organisation, Project Alert on 
Violence Against Women, Mr. Ben Odeh, said the police officer 
responsible for the act should be disciplined for torturing the couple.<br />
<br />
He said, “It is a breach of their constitutional rights. The policeman went too far.”<br />
<br />
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed 
the incident, said, “Yes, the incident happened in the Ikoyi 
division.Inquiries are on as well as disciplinary procedures.”</div>

to force her to have canal knowledge of her. Someone who claimed she was
 r*ped could also muscle out strength to destroy my properties in front

in saying I allegedly r*ped her? I know that the thought of possessing

 to bother if such crude treatment is meted out to a rising star like 
me. Must we continue to destroy our very best because we have a very few
 media platforms that are willing tools to be used. This is sad and

Capital Market and by extension the Nigerian economy which in turn put 
food on the tables of millions of Nigerians and beyond. During her 
tenure as the DG of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the Capital Market was 
bountiful and prospered as never before. She is an institution in this 
country and should please not be dragged into trivial issues like this.
