<strong>              Strange circumstances were surrounding the alleged killing by Ismail Yakubu of his wife Silifat, the mother of 3.</strong><br />

Vanguard reports with reference to Lagos police that the woman’s 
mutilated lifeless body was discovered October 4 in a small river near 
Araromi Ale Olorunda Local Council Development Area.<br /><br />
The middle-aged victim was apparently dumped in a small river after 
she had been murdered. Locals, who reported the case to the police, 
disclosed that some of her body parts, such as her eyes, breasts and 
uterus, were missing upon discovery.<br />

Ambimbola Sule, a commercial motorcyclist in the area, said:<br />

<em>“Residents in the community woke up on Saturday morning to find 
the lifeless body of a woman inside the river that leads into Igbele. 
Initially, people could not identify the person because her face had 
several cuts. She was wearing a lace gown, with no underwears.”</em><br />

Several people were arrested by police in connection with the incident which initially resembled a ritual killing.<br /><br />
However the majority were released and the woman’s husband, detained on the next day, remained the main suspect.<br /><br />
It was further reported that the man made a shocking confession. He 
allegedly not only admitted killing his wife but also said he was 
directed to do so by a prophet, who told him she was using his star.<br />

Yakubu reportedly failed to drive the body far from the site of murder and dumped it in the nearby river.<br /><br />
Yakubu’s neighbour Iya Korede described the deceased and the suspect, currently in custody, to journalists:<br />

<em> </em><br />
<em>“Most of the people in the area do not know her husband because 
he goes early to work and comes back late. But his wife is a very hard 
working woman. She built the house they live in. As if that was not 
enough, she bought a commercial bus for him. What else does he want? If 
he was tired of the marriage, he should have driven her away instead of 
killing her.”</em><br />

Government Area of Ondo State over weekend, as a newly-married couple 
and four other persons were killed by a truck.</strong><br />

The truck, it was gathered, rammed into the residence of
 the couple located close to Oka hill while they were asleep.<br />

A resident of the area, who identified himself as Gidado, said the 
accident occurred in the early hours of the day when most of the 
residents of the area were still in their homes.<br />

It was gathered that the truck, which was heading towards Abuja, belonged to a famous manufacturing company.<br />

Aside the couple that died in the accident, four other persons who were also hit by the truck were later confirmed dead.<br />

According to Gidado, the four other persons were returning from a prayer session when they were hit.<br />

<br />

Sources stated that the remains of the couple, whose names could not
 be ascertained as at press time, and other victims have been 
deposited at a government hospital in the area.<br />

Meanwhile, it was gathered in recent times that vehicle accidents 
have been rampant on that road due to heavy presence of trucks on the 
road and hinderance in the flow of traffic caused by vehicles often

<strong>              Another baby factory was busted by Anambra State Police Command in Onitsha.</strong><br />

The police arrested the owner of the baby factory for supposedly 
selling one of the new- born babies to yet-to-be identified person at 
Obosi for N700,000 without the consent of his mother.<br />

She was alleged to have opened a maternity home at Odekpe in Ogbaru 
Local Government Area of Anambra State. At this place women take care of
 the babies after birth and then the owner sells them to interested 
buyers with or without their mothers’ consents.<br /><br />
The case began when the suspect had sent the mother of the baby, 
identified as Adaku, to bring a gallon of water to bath the newborn. 
When Adaku returned both of them were missing. One week later, the owner
 of the baby factory was back, but without the baby.<br />

Benjamin Wordu, the Police Area Commander for Onitsha confirmed the 
arrest and said he had just transferred the case to the State Criminal 
Investigations Department, CID, Awka, for further investigations, after 
that she would be charged to court.<br /><br />
He also revealed that the newborn had been freed to his mother.<br />

Baby factories are a big problem for the country. They keep springing
 up all over Eastern Nigeria as fast as the law administration agencies 
are shutting down the discovered ones.<br />

The government should upgrade the adoption laws and regulations and 
employ and train more officers to conduct, regulate and supervise 
adoptions. Many Nigerian girls who submit to illegal abortions should be
 enlightened about the adoption alternative, which helps to solve this 
problem.</div>

Nigerians are being deliberately divided along religious lines but some 
people are wise enough to know that religion has nothing to do with good
 governance. After a Pastor who was governor of Taraba State was among 
those tried for alleged massive looting of the state's resources.<br />

Sola Salako is among those not ready to consider religion in governance. Here's what she said:<br />

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Goodluck 
Jonathan to urgently address Nigerians on the serial embarrassments to 
which his administration is subjecting the country in the comity of 
nations, after another seizure of $5.7 million of Nigerian arms money by
 the South African authorities.</div>

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, 
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the issues surrounding the first 
seizure of $9.3 million have yet to be resolved before this latest 
scandal, wondering why the government would want to turn Nigeria to a 
rogue nation by taking ownership of money laundering and other acts of 
illegality, thus devaluing the currency of every Nigerian.<br />

"Again, Mr. President, Nigerians are urging you to please come clean 
over these cash-for-arms scandals. They want you to answer critical 
questions on the legality of your administration's repeated conduct. <span style="color: #cc0000;">Nigerians
 want to know the identities of the two Nigerians who were arrested with
 an Israeli in South Africa over the first illegal deal, especially 
since the Israeli has been named</span>. </blockquote>

"Nigerians want to why the purported arms procurement for the government
 is done illegally between private companies that are neither known nor 
registered for dealing in arms? And why are the movement of monies not 
transparently documented for what they really are, if they are truly for
 legitimate purposes?  </blockquote>

the government is seeking so furiously to procure are for the battle 
against Boko Haram or for a sinister motive, considering the desperation

 possible. They want to know whether every Nigerian should begin to fear
 what will happen in the days and weeks leading to the forthcoming 
general elections, against the backdrop of your Administration and 
party's do-or-die politics.<br />

"Mr. President, if the funds involved in the latest seizure were sent 
through bank transfer, can the government explain why Oritsejafor's 
plane was stuffed with cash and transported to South Africa? Can your 
Administration's embarrassing explanation that it is customary for other
 country's security agencies, including with MOSSAD, KGB and CIA, to 
cart plane loads of cash across the world to purchase black market 
weapons hold any more water now? These are some of the questions 
Nigerians are asking, not an untenable spin by untruthful government 
officials," it said.<br />
<br />
The party also wondered whether the funds being ferried up and down by 
the Administration were appropriated by the National Assembly, or 
whether they are part of the missing $20 billion oil money.<br />
<br />
APC slammed the federal government for issuing childish and immature 
threats against South Africa threatening its investments in the country,
 instead of addressing the pertinent questions surrounding the illegal 
arms procurement deals.<br />
<br />
"Mr. President, you cannot threaten another country when your 
Administration is willfully breaking the laws of that country. In this 
case, your Administration stands on a weak moral ground, as its hands 
have been caught in the cookie jar. Therefore, issuing infantile threats
 is laughable, unacceptable and wrong," the party said.<br />

It reminded the Jonathan Administration that nowhere else does a 
government engage in illegal black market movement of money or arms - 
both signatures of terrorism worldwide, adding that only terrorists and 
pariah nations move money and procure arms in clandestine manners.</div>

fence had been erected around the university accommodation after a

body down below with people and police milling around it.</span><br />

know where she was going as she didn't say anything to me, but I do know
 she was seeing someone so maybe she had gone to meet him?'</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> 'The 
electric fence was installed to keep intruders out after we had a few 
incidents of unauthorised people trying to get in.'It was there for the 
students' safety and we never imagined one of them would try to climb 
over it.They all knew it was electric.'</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Police said they are now looking into the death, and add they have not ruled out foul play.</span><br />
