franchise. A angry father has killed himself after seeing photos of his 
own 18 year old daughter's raunchy poses for Playboy Magazine.<br />

The girl, Loredana Chivu revealed her father killed himself after she 
posed for the Romanian edition of Playboy magazine as her action badly 
affected her once close relationship with her dad.<br />
<br />
First, her dad stopped talking to her, but she thought he would 'get over it':<br />

"I never expected he would do something like kill himself. When he found
 out what I had done he cut himself off from the world and tried to 
isolate me as well from the rest of the family."</blockquote>

After trying to reconcile with him a few months after appearing in the mag, Chivu found him dead.<br />

'I never recovered from the shock of finding him. He had not left a 
suicide note, and everybody said that up to the end he seemed cheerful, 
and it was a complete mystery as to why he would do something like 
this,' she claims.<br />
<br />
Chivu is now 25 and living in the Romanian capital Bucharest, but she is
 still haunted by the discovery and the fact she may have caused her 
father to take his own life due to her raunchy acts.</div>

 to many movie fans and fellow Nollywood practitioners, a former Vice 
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and seasoned actor, Prince 
James Uche, is still struggling to survive a strange illness that has 
kept him off the screen for eight years ago.<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6747821070134156749" name="more"></a></span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: small;">
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><span>To make matters 
worse, Uche’s landlord has just served him a notice, ordering him to 
quit his residence at 45, Yetunde Brown Street, Gbagada, Lagos.<br /><br />The
 ailing actor, who now spends most of his time in the premises of a 
Catholic church near his residence, in an interview with our 
correspondent on Thursday, recounted how he found himself in his present
 condition.<br /><br />He said, “All I can remember is that something struck
 me on the left side of my face about eight years ago, when I was 
heading for the burial ceremony of Pete Edochie’s mother at Nteje in 
Anambra State. I had no idea what hit me in the face, but it happened 
when I arrived at the junction leading to the town.<br /><br />“I got to the
 venue of the ceremony and stayed in the town for two days. On the third
 day, I suddenly found that I could no longer move my body freely. 
Although I barely managed to get up on my feet, I could not climb up the
 staircase.<br /><br />“I had to wait till the following Sunday before 
deciding to leave for Lagos. But my friend, Edoche, persuaded me to 
follow him to Enugu where he lived at the time. I slept in Enugu on that
 day. In the morning I went for treatment in a hospital.<br /><br />“After 
the doctor had finished examining me, he stared at me with his mouth 
half open in shock for a long time. When I asked what was wrong, he said
 I should have been dead. He took my pulse again and then, sweating, 
said my blood pressure was abnormally high. He said it had risen up to 
300 and it was a miracle that I was still alive.”<br /><br />The doctor also
 told the actor that, judging by his blood pressure, he should have been
 dead or paralysed. That was how Uche initially discovered that he had a
 heart problem.<br /><br />Although the doctor in the Enugu hospital 
prescribed a certain drug for his illness and instructed to take it for 
the rest of his life, Uche had thought it was nothing to worry about and
 he hoped to recover quickly.<br /><br />Unfortunately, eight years after, 
the actor, whose career has been seriously affected by the ailment, is 
still battling for his life. Apart from spending all his life savings on
 hospital bills and drugs, the illness has cost him his marriage. In 
fact, E PUNCH gathered that at a point, Uche’s wife was forced to leave 
their matrimonial home because she could no longer cope with the burden 
of taking care of him and their three children.<br /><br />Uche’s case has 
progressively declined over the past years. Apart from suffering an 
undefined heart disease, he is gradually losing his memory and sight (he
 could barely glimpse our correspondent).<br /><br />Also, to compound the 
actor’s problem, his kidneys no longer function properly. With financial
 assistance from members of his church – Catholic Church in Gbagada, 
Lagos – he was able to undergo five dialyses in 2013. Yet, it is feared 
that the kidneys may pack up due to inadequate medical attention.<br /><br />Apart
 from looking quite emaciated, Uche’s speech is slurred and most of the 
time, incoherent. Some members of the Society of St. Vincent of Paul in 
his church were moved by his plight to care for him three years after 
his wife left with their three sons.<br /><br />A female member of the Society told E-PUNCH that other relatives of the ailing actor had virtually abandoned him to his fate.<br /><br />She
 said, “James Uche’s family has not helped his situation at all. Maybe, 
if they had been around him, his health would not have deteriorated this
 bad.         When his wife took the children and left, he was all alone
 in their residence. Nobody visited him. None of his relations, 
colleagues or friends visited him or volunteered to give him his drugs 
until members of the Society of St. Vincent the Paul decided to care for
 him.”<br /><br />Describing his present condition, she confirmed that the 
actor’s blood pressure had been consistently high, noting that at a 
point, some kind-hearted people picked him up and took him to the 
General Hospital, Gbagada where he was admitted in the intensive unit 
for some time and made to undergo a number of medical tests.<br /><br />The 
lady continued, “The bottom line is that other things came up. His 
kidney was seriously affected and he had to undergo five dialyses in 
March, 2014. From what we have seen, he is also afflicted with diabetes.
 This is why he has been placed under a strict diet. He doesn’t just eat
 anything. His eyes are so impaired now that he could barely see 
objects. We have even taken him to St. Mary’s Hospital in Ago Iwoye, 
Ogun State. As it is, everything is related to high blood pressure. The 
ailment has seriously affected the organs in his body, especially the 
kidneys.”<br /><br />E-PUNCH also learnt that members of the Society made an
 effort to contact the Abia State Government, through the representative
 of the Item Constituency in the House of Assembly, for assistance to 
the actor. But they said the person did not get back to them.<br /><br />Sometime
 last year, word reached the Actors Guild of Nigeria that Uche was still
 seriously ill. A delegation was sent to visit him in his home. He was 
subsequently taken another hospital in the Gbagada area of Lagos for 
treatment and placed on health insurance, which gave him access to free 
drugs. Ever since, the AGN has done anything else to assist him.<br /><br />Fellow Nigerians let's join hands to assist him so as not to lose another film actor. 14,000 PVCs Snatched By Hoodlums In Rivers – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has 
disclosed that over 14,000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been 
snatched by hoodlums from its officials during the collection exercise 
in Rivers State.<br />

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs Gesila Khan, 
disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, on Friday.<br />

According to Khan, some of the cards were stolen from collection 
centres in some local government areas, where the PVCs were deposited to
 enable the owners have easy access to them.<br />

While it would mean that the owners would be disenfranchised, Khan 
expressed no panic, as she noted that the stolen cards would be useless.
 The card reader system would be used to authenticate and verify the 
real owner of the PVCs before they are allowed to vote.<br />

Khan also disclosed that her office received 2,990,056 PVCs, out of 
which 1,869,379 had been distributed to eligible voters in the state.<br />

She assured that more than 50,000 additional PVCs would be 
distributed two weeks before the general election, adding that over 80 
percent of the registered voters in the state had so far collected their
 cards.<br />

Khan also assured that the February elections would be peaceful 
because of the existing cooperation among INEC officials, police and 
other security agencies in the state.</div>

A group of Army officers involved in operations against insurgents 
tagged “Operation Zaman Lafiya” have written an open letter detailing a 
series of problems bedeviling their military operations. In addition, 
the officers called on President Goodluck Jonathan to investigate 
massive looting of funds meant for military operations.<br />

They also urged President Barack Obama of the United States and United 
Nations Secretary General Banki Moon to put pressure on Jonathan to 
engage in fighting a more focused war on Boko Haram. <br />

The open letter titled: “<b>State of Operations In The North East As Observed By Some Concerned Officers</b>,” stated thus: </blockquote>

“We the concerned officers participating in the North East Operation 
Zaman Lafiya do resolve to write this letter for the following reasons: 
a. to save our country Nigeria; b. to stop the bloodshed of innocent 
officers, soldiers and civilians in the North East; c. to appeal to the 
President of the United State[s] of America Mr. Barack Obama, United 
Nation Secretary General Mr. Banki Moon and other world leaders to as 
quickly as important intervene and urge President Goodluck Jonathan to 
do the needful in addressing the issue of insurgency in Nigeria 
especially in the North East.”</div>

The officers who authored the letter said they were initially reluctant 
to air their grievances in the open in order not to boost the morale of 
insurgents, but added that troops fighting Boko Haram, a terrorist 
Islamist sect that has seized a significant swathe of territory in 
Nigeria’s northeast zone, have been equipped poorly. In addition, the 
officers accused Mr. Jonathan of condoning the looting of funds meant 
for the war against the insurgents. They specifically alleged that 
“Chief of Training and Operations, Major General J.A.H. Ewansiha” was a 
major looter of security funds. In addition, the letter stated that it 
was well known that Mr. Jonathan’s ADC had illicitly acquired stupendous
 wealth that has enabled him to buy up expensive homes in Nigeria and 
abroad. <br />
<br />
The letter further alleged that top military officials had intimidated 
an officer who wrote a letter to the president to deny authorship of the
 document which exposed massive corruption in the anti-terror 
operations. <br />
<br />
<b>Below is the full text of the letter: </b><br />
1.    We the concerned officers participating in the North East 
Operation Zaman Lafiya do resolve to write this letter for the following
 reasons:<br />
<br />
a.     To save our country Nigeria.<br />
<br />
b.     To stop the bloodshed of innocent officers, soldiers and civilians in the North East.<br />
<br />
c.     To appeal to the president of the United State of America Mr. 
Barrack Obama, United Nation Secretary General Mr. Banki Moon and other 
world leaders to as quickly as important to intervene and urge President
 Goodluck Jonathan to do the needful in addressing the issue of 
insurgency in Nigeria especially in the North East.<br />
<br />
2. As members of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it
 is our responsibility to defend our country Nigeria which we are ever 
ready to do so as the call arises. But firstly, the civil authority has 
the first responsibility to equip us effectively to enable us to carry 
out such task. This is common practice all over the world. As 
professional officers and soldiers, we did not want to go public with 
details of our frustrations concerning this operation because doing so 
will boast the moral[e] of our enemy. But the persistent neglect of our 
plight made us to do otherwise.<br />
<br />
3. It is well known fact that of recent, a commanding officer from this 
theater of operation wrote a letter to our President intimating him of a
 few out of numerous problems affecting us in this operation which we 
believe Mr. President will address. It appears Mr. President has chosen 
to ignore it because none of his relations are among us. In this 21st 
century, how can an accused [be] a judge of his own case? That letter 
clearly exposed the rot within the military authorities concerning this 
operation. This is because, the Army authority that was accused of poor 
administration in that letter, set up a kangaroo investigation that 
harass[ed], intimidate[d], and forced the officer to deny the authorship
 of the letter.<br />
<br />
4. We authoritatively learned that, the Army authority succeeded in 
forcing the officer to deny the letter through the Provost Marshal 
(Army) who happen[ed] to be of the same tribe with the officer 
concern[ed]. For President Goodluck Jonathan to ignore such kind of 
allegation made us to believe the rumor going round that he has a hand 
or knowledge in the so-called Boko Haram. We are also aware of how the 
funds meant for these operations are being looted through the office of 
the Chief of Training and Operations, Major General J.A.H. Ewansiha. 
Despite our strong [belief] in democracy, we condemn a democratic 
government that condones corruption, especially in its military. The 
President is reported to always turn a blind eye to issues of 
corruption. For instance, the ADC to Mr.President is presently one of 
the richest officers in the army. He owns properties in choice places 
all over the country and even abroad. We are going to make public 
details of his wealth and assets at the appropriate time.<br />
<br />
5. We are appealing to all well meaning Nigerians and leaders of 
International Community to please speak out with loud voice in [order] 
to make President Jonathan to constitute an independent high-powered 
committee to investigate the content of that letter written to him by 
the commanding officer. Should this request be ignored, the resultant 
consequence could only be imagined.<br />
<br />
6. We stand bold to state that we are speaking the minds of all the officers and soldiers in Operation Zaman Lafiya.<br />
