Lesley's family was assured her number would never be used again.<br />

 three years after her death, O2 gave her old number to another customer
 - who answered the messages thinking they were "jokes" from friends.<br />
<br />
The new user then turned prankster - and sent a series of replies when he realised his number once belonged to a dead person.<br />
<br />
Sheri's blood ran cold until the new owner confessed.<br />

The 22-year-old care worker from South Shields, South Tyneside, said:
 "I felt sick when I read it, I was in shock, I didn't know what to 
think.<br />
"I'd sent a message on Wednesday night telling her about family life and then I got the reply on Thursday.<br />
"Obviously
 we know that nan wasn't going to ever reply, it was just something we 
did as a comfort for ourselves, because she loved to text.<br />
"So you can imagine what I was thinking seeing a message flash up from her."<br />
<br />
Lesley
 died of bowel cancer in July 2011 and was buried with her 
favourite things in South Shields Harton Cemetery - including her 
mobile.<br />
During the last three years, Sheri, along with her father 
John Emerson, 42, and uncle Graham Emerson, 29, have sent messages to 
Lesley's mobile for comfort.<br />
<br />
Phone giants 02 assured them the number would be terminated forever.<br />
But several messages came through last week, with another telling Sheri "not to worry".<br />
<br />
She then sent another message asking who sent the text, to which she received the bizarre reply of: "A disturbing vegetarian".<br />
<br />
Sheri added: "The person must have realised what was going on and replied that they were sorry."<br />
<br />
Sheri's Uncle John contacted Lesley's phone and spoke to a man who said he'd been using her old number for the last few weeks.<br />

Strong indications have emerged that some second term governors, elected
 on the platform of the PDP who are eyeing the Senate in 2015, may have 
some hurdles to cross ahead of nomination.<br />

A meeting between the PDP national chairman, Dr Adamu Mu’azu, and 
governors elected on the platform of the party, which took place on 
Wednesday night at his residence, failed to reach a consensus on the 
vexed issue of endorsement and automatic tickets for first term 
governors, Senate-bound governors and their preferred successors.<br />

They are expected to reconvene over the weekend, but a party source said
 ‘acceptable conditions’ are likely to be given to the outgoing 
governors who want the PDP ticket to go to the Senate.<br />

“They cannot have everything they want,” the source, a member of the 
party’s National Working Committee told a team of journalists in Abuja 
over the weekend.</blockquote>

 some its ranking senators returned to the Senate in 2015, the

openly confronted themselves before President Goodluck Jonathan at the 
Presidential Villa last week over the Senate ticket for the zone.<br />

According to Leadership, aside confirming that there were indeed 
pressures from the outgoing governors on Mu’azu and President Jonathan 
over the issue of automatic senatorial tickets for the two-term 
governors, the NWC member disclosed that the national leadership of the 
party had concluded plans to meet with the governors to reel certain 
conditions.<br />

“The truth is that the pressure has always been there since the issue of

has taken a very dangerous dimension because of our desire to strengthen
 our National Assembly, especially the Senate, so that the polity could 
benefit from their wealth of experience, but the governors and their 
desire to all go to the Senate is setting a big constraint on our desire

“While we believe that the governors are our field commanders, we cannot
 say in the same breath that our senators are no more useful and should 
be discarded; so we have outlined some acceptable conditions that will 
guide both the governors and the senators; because, especially the 
governors, they cannot have everything for themselves without 
consideration for others.<br />
<br />
“We are going to tell them politely that if a governor wishes to go to 
the Senate, fine, but such one cannot be the one to anoint his 
successor; and, if at all, let the senator any governor wishes to 
replace also take the governorship slot,” he explained.<br />
<br />
The disclosure by the NWC member came on the heels of the report that a 
south-south governor had lured the senator representing his (the 
governor’s) zone to Aso Villa to see the president.<br />
<br />
According to him, as soon as they settled for discussions, the governor 
told President Jonathan to ‘look for something for the senator’ after 
the elections because he (the governor) was already set to supplant the 
senator at the National Assembly.<br />

“It was very embarrassing that the senator had to pointedly tell the 
governor that if he wanted to go the Senate, he (senator) was ready to 
be governor. It took the intervention of the president to calm frayed 
nerves because it was becoming a heated argument between them in the 
presence of Mr President,” he said.<br />

It was gathered that the governor did not take the stands of the senator
 because he had already endorsed someone to take over from him in 2015.<br />

It has emerged that in Enugu State, Governor Sullivan Chime is set to replace Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.<br />

 is no doubt that church business is very lucrative. The overwhelming 
number of churches in Nigeria is a testament of how profitable owning a 
church is and if that is not enough evidence, then perhaps the recently 
published list of the top 10 richest pastors in the world where the top 
earner, Pastor David Oyedepo, is estimated to have a networth of $150m 
should suffice.<br /><br />While the notion of soul-saving preachers with 
humble earnings and possessions is currently quite surreal and almost 
fictional, it was the norm until the healing revivals of the 1950s. When
 a group of pentecostal evangelists such as William Branham, Kenneth 
Hagin, Oral Roberts and A. A. Allen embraced an understanding of faith 
as an activator that unleashed spiritual power. At the same time, they 
understood the Bible as a source of God’s laws and covenants that gave 
believers specific rights and privileges.<br /><br />Over the years, this 
teaching was revamped and made more sophisticated. Preachers shifted 
from the “God of fire and brimstone” to a more appealing one of “grace 
and prosperity”. It gained worldwide prominence and prominent preachers 
like Chris Oyakhilome, David Oyedepo, Chris Okotie and Matthew 
Ashimolowo are keeping the movement strong in Nigeria.<br /><br />This brand
 of Christianity advocates behaving like children of the kingdom by 
dressing like queens and kings, thinking positively, and believing it is
 your right as a child of the kingdom to be rich and you should partner 
with God by faith to pursue riches.<br /><br />The heart of the principle of
 this teaching seems to be exclusively reliant on you using something to
 get something. Though you could give God your time and other 
non-material things, money seems to be the most acceptable form of 
payment to unlock the blessings of heaven. It almost has the undertone 
of taking from the devil.<br /><br />These preachers sell the gospel as the 
pathway to riches. Feeding the desire of their followers to be rich even
 though it is contrary to what Paul said in 1 Timothy 6:6-10.<br /><br />To 
support their theory, they use themselves as examples testifying of the 
turnover they made from sowing seeds. Dr. Mike Murdock is well known for
 this tactic.<br /><br />Motivated by stories of financial gain, out of the 
little they have, members pay their tithes and then go through the 
rigmarole of seed sowing. They sow the seed, water it, weed it and even 
fence it. The seed then become more important than seeking the kingdom 
of God. Matthew 6:33- “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his 
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”<br /><br />While
 giving is not wrong per se, a majority of these prosperity preachers 
are living a luxurious life off their poor members who are in dire need 
of help. Owning a multimillion-dollar private jet just to “oversee 
churches” to quote Pastor Adeboye while some members are living in 
poverty is acceptable by these preachers.<br /><br />Being accustomed to 
life of luxury, some preachers with branches in the west gets carried 
away and spends church funds at will, which eventually lands them in 
murky situations.<br /><br />While Christ Embassy is currently under 
investigation for alleged mismanagement of funds, the British government
 ordered Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo to pay back £200,000 in 2006 after it
 emerged that he used church assets to buy a £13,000 Florida time share 
and spent £120,000 on his birthday celebrations, including £80,000 which
 was spent on a car.<br /><br />Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor is currently 
embroilled in the controversy of how his private  jet was used to ferry 
 $9.3 million seized by the South African government. He is a friend of 
government as well as National President of Christian Association of 
Nigeria (CAN).<br /><br />Though members should be responsible for the needs
 of their pastors, making giving money a prerequisite for receiving from
 God is punitive.<br /><br />It is a safe bet that a congregation with less 
than 500 members would surely have testimonies of people reaping from 
sowing but not everyone would experience such gain.<br /><br />However, 
those who did not reap from sowing are not given a refund rather they 
are encouraged to sow more and believe more. The onus is placed on them 
and not the preacher who spoke confidently about the powers of sowing 
and they are thrust into a perpetual circle of giving and believing 
while the preachers travel the world in private jets, drive in fully 
air-conditioned cars, send their children to the best schools and have 
the best of everything.<br /><br />The height of the irony is that; members 
cannot afford to send their children to the schools they helped 
establish and majority of these preachers benefited from free missionary
 schools.<br /><br />Charity, which is a foundation of Christianity seems to
 have absconded. Even those claiming to be involved in charity are just 
using it as a façade<br /><br />The church is now a market hub, everything 
is for sale. It is all about the cha-ching! cha-ching!! And if you do 
not have loads of it, then you are relegated to the bottom of the food 
chain.<br /><br />I wonder what Jesus Christ would do if he walks into a church today.  </span></span><br />
