Wales is only 400,000 people or about a million people. They call them a
 nation, and they call Yorubas who are 27 million a tribe, the Igbo who 
are 18 million you call them a tribe. For us to have many nations that 
make up Nigeria, it was God that made it happen. And that prophetic 
mandate still remains on Nigeria.<br />

Anyone who incites people to divide this nation will lose his chance. 
Nigeria will remain one. After all the noise, you will be amazed that 
also some politicians will be shocked, nobody will be ready to die for 
them. There will be peace in Nigeria after the election.<br />

I see a man who will one day rise, but I don’t know when, I don’t think 
it’s up to 10 years though . He will turn the fortunes of Nigeria 
round. Nigeria will look like one of these advancing nations like United

UNIBEN Students Apologise to Oshiomhole

                     A Coalition of Students of Tertiary Institutions in Edo State have 
apologised to the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over 
the razing of a luxury bus belonging to the State Government by some 
students of the University of Benin.<br />

The UNIBEN students were purportedly protesting the repossession of 
some quarters belonging to the government from the University 
authorities after a High Court ruled in favour of the state government.<br />

 Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor, Ambrose Alli University, 
Ekpoma, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, College of Education, Igueben, College

Ekiadolor, Comrade Amenaghawon Emmanuel said, “We are here to show our 
strong solidarity to you and your entire cabinet because we know,

 of all these, we want to let you know that those who are with you are 
more than those who are against you.<br />

“Specifically, I will want to talk about the script that was acted

Students, Comrade Gideon Aidonijie and Comrade Agbonlahor Agape, 
President, Student Union Government, College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi

In his remarks, Comrade Oshiomhole expressed thanks to the students for the honor bestowed on him.<br />

He said, “As Governor, I need the courage to make decisions without 
minding whose ox is gored because what has led to impunity across the 
country is that government is unable to find the courage to apply rules 
clearly without looking at faces.<br />

Oshiomhole said, “I made up my mind from a very early age after 
fighting my battles as you are fighting your battles, that I shall 
commit myself to standing on the side of truth and God will give me 
courage to do what I am convinced about. That has guided my actions 
since I assumed office as Governor of Edo State.”<br />

While x-raying the recent court action by the University of Benin 
against the Edo State Government in relation to properties owned by the 
state, Oshiomhole said, “People have been misinformed about the real 
issue concerning that property.”<br />

He maintained that the University of Benin is not the owner of the 
said properties in the Government Reservation Areas of the state capital
 but belonged to the state government and the court had so ruled, 
charging the students not to allow themselves to be used by greedy and

Agbazue, the 17 year old girl who fell from an abandoned 18 storey 
building in Abule-Ajanloco in Lagos, while trying to escape from a 
facebook lover turned rapist, says that her assailants intended to kill 
her for ritual purpose after forcefully having carnal knowledge of her.<br />
<br />
This is really sad. Ada is currently lying at the Ilemba Ajangbadi 
hospital in Lagos where she is being treated for multiple fractures and 
other injuries.<br />
<br />
She attributes her being alive to a miracle, stating that she finds it hard to explain her survival.<br />
<br />
What happened that a man she loved through facebook wanted to kill her? Details below:<br />

Ada was lured to the abandoned storey building on December 26th by a man
 she purportedly met on facebook as exclusively reported by The Mirror, 
last weekend.<br />

The injured young lady said she is alive to tell her story from the sick
 bed to teach others to be careful of who they make friends with on 
social media.<br />
<br />
“My being alive is a miracle and I am grateful to God. With what I saw 
in that room, that man can be a cultist, he can be a ritual killer.<br />
<br />
"He told me that he is a Buccaneer,” she narrated, tearfully. According 
to her, a facebook friend she identified as Michael lured her through 
Facebook to the abandoned building.<br />
<br />
Agbazue, on that fateful day, got dressed for a date with Michael. 
Narrating her ordeal, the young girl stated that she got a call on her 
mobile phone:<br />

“My phone rang and a man said he wanted to speak with me. I don’t know 
how he got my number but he told me that it was from my Facebook page 
but he is not my friend on face book. He told me his name is Michael but
 he is not any of the Michaels that I know.<br />
<br />
“I did not see any harm because he said we should meet at the Ile-Nla 
Bus Stop which is a busy place. When I got to the bus stop, I noticed he
 was looking at my picture on his phone. He looked up to see my face. He
 was standing opposite the road,” she narrated.<br />
<br />
Agbazue said she became alarmed at first because the man did not look 
like the Michael she knew on the face book. At that point, she hastily 
pointed out that she does not know him.<br />
<br />
As if trying to reassure her, the stranger told Agbazue to cross over. 
Not realizing the mistake in doing so, the girl crossed over. The man 
touched her and immediately, as narrated, matters changed. According to 
her she lost all will to resist the man.<br />
<br />
It was just him, no other person was with him. He is a young man around 
24 or 25 years old. “He told me that he is staying with his mum and 
brothers in the uncompleted building and they have neighbours.<br />
<br />
He told me that they live in the uncompleted building (an 18 floor 
abandoned Federal government building). She explained that this was 
about 4.30 pm, that day.<br />
<br />
“As we were going inside the building, I saw a lady coming out from the 
building. I saw passers-by and people playing ball. When we entered, he 
took me to the fourth floor and we entered a big room.<br />
<br />
"I saw clothes. He told me that even the other side has neighbours. When
 we continued climbing up the stairs, I told him that I was tired but he
 pleaded with me. At the walls, I saw some strange diagrams, cultists 
diagrams painted on the wall.<br />
<br />
“I saw a human head by the wall. The head is not fresh but the head has 
long weave on (attachment) on it . I was scared when I saw the head. I 
wanted to go back but he brought out a knife.<br />
<br />
“I was kind of scared but not too scared. He ordered me to keep climbing up into the wider room,” narrated the girl.<br />
<br />
According to Agbazue, the place looked like an umbrella and has many windows.<br />
<br />
She said that the man ordered her to leave the window. But she saw also 
that there was the word ‘buccaneer’ on the wall. The man called Michael 
then told her that he is a Buccaneer. Continuing her narration, the girl
 said that she saw lots of cultist diagrams on the wall.<br />
<br />
“<span style="color: #cc0000;">I moved away and he told me to start 
pulling off my clothes. I told him you are not my husband so I cannot 
pull off my clothes for you</span>; he told me that I was proving 
stubborn but I continued to beg him, but the more I begged him the more 
he used the knife to threaten me.<br />
<br />
“He said if he calls his friends, it will be too much for me” she said.<br />
<br />
Michael started making calls. He made the first call and he started calling the second person.<br />
<br />
According to her, the man said that she should not try to run. Now desperate, she moved to the window looking for an escape.<br />
<br />
She tried to climb down by holding a pole that she saw. At that point, 
he ran to her and held her hand, “trying to prevent me from escaping.<br />
<br />
"<span style="color: #cc0000;">I used my other hand to push him and that was how I fell to the ground</span>,” she stated. Residents of the area saw Ada as she fell from the building thinking that she might be an apparition.<br />

In a desperate bid to raise funds ahead of February 2015 general 
elections, politicians seeking or sponsoring candidates for elective 
posts have started selling their property in major cities of the country
 such as Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.<br />
<br />
Investigation by PUNCH revealed that the development had crashed 
property market value as the politicians reduced the cost of their 
property by between 50 percent and 100 percent just to raise money for 
campaign.<br />
<br />
In Rivers State, a Port Harcourt-based estate practitioner, who simply 
identified himself as Nonye, confirmed to our correspondent that many 
property, especially those in Old GRA, had been put up for sale by some 
politicians.<br />
<br />
According to him, there has been a sharp increase in the sale of 
property by politicians, who ostensibly need money to woo voters for 
support.<br />
<br />
He specifically said a former governor of Rivers State<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>sold some of his property in order to assist some politicians seeking elective positions.<br />
<br />
According to him, the politicians’ desperation to sell their property began in August, 2014 and peaked the following month.<br />
<br />
Nonye said, “There are many politicians who are selling their property. 
While some of the property have already been sold, others are still 
waiting to be sold. The rush to sell the property started in August and 
increased in October, 2014. These property are owned by politicians. The
 property are mostly in Old GRA and New GRA in Port Harcourt.<br />
<br />
“One of the governorship aspirants sold one of his property while a 
former governor has sold about three of his houses to support a 
politician that is currently seeking election.<br />
<br />
“The politicians selling their property cut across the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.<br />
<br />
“One of the governorship aspirants also put up his eight plots of land 
for sale in the Old GRA and an aspirant from Andoni Local Government 
Area has offered to sell a duplex in the New GRA.”<br />
<br />
On the value of the property on sale, Nonye explained that while a 
two-story building could go as high as between N250m and N300m in a 
high-brow area like New and Old GRA, the same property could go for 
between N20m and N50m in other areas.<br />
<br />
Another estate agent, Bright Osakwe, told Punch that more property were currently put on sale than in 2013.<br />
<br />
Bright said estate agents observed that most of the property that were currently on sale belonged to top politicians.<br />
<br />
According to him, some of the property go for as high as between N50m 
and N60m depending on the size and quality of the building.<br />
<br />
He said most of the politicians have their buildings in places like GRA, Ada George and Shell Industrial Area.<br />
<br />
Bright noted that the politicians would not show up to negotiate with 
would-be buyers until they were sure that serious customers had 
indicated interest in acquiring the property.<br />
<br />
He said, “The politicians are selling their property now compared to 
what it used to be two years ago. We noticed an increase in the level of
 property that are put up for sales, though the politicians don’t show 
up until a buyer shows serious interest in buying such property. The 
property are mostly houses and you are aware that when you buy the 
building, the land follows it.<br />
<br />
“Some of the buildings owned by politicians that have been put up for 
sale are around Ada George, Old GRA and Shell Industrial Area. Some 
buildings owned by these politicians are also located on D-Line. While 
some are put up for sale at N50m and N55m for one story building, others
 place the price of their property at N60m depending on the location, 
size and quality of the property. In fact, you can see property of N25m.
 It depends on the size and location.”<br />
<br />
Real estate agents in Abuja said that a lot of buildings had being offered for sale but there were “no buyers.”<br />
<br />
The Chairperson, Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, FCT 
Chapter, Mrs. Binta Ibrahim, said the coming elections were a major 
reason for the fall in prices of buildings in the nation’s capital.<br />
<br />
She said, “The issue has to do with the economy, but politicians equally
 are selling their property. So, I will say it is both ways; the economy
 and the next general elections.<br />
<br />
“If you go round Abuja, you will see that a lot of property are put up 
for sale, even those that are being put up for rent, people are not 
patronising the developers and owners.<br />
<br />
“With the approaching elections, and the less circulation of funds as 
before, the politicians are desperate to come back and they have to sell
 off their property. So, if you look at it from the investors’ angle, 
you will see that the investors now have a good deal because of the way 
politicians are selling their estates at give-away prices.”<br />
<br />
Speaking also on the development, the Managing Director/Chief Executive 
Officer, Woods and Bricks Limited, Mr. Andy Elerewe, cited an instance 
where a politician from one of the northern states placed one of his 
houses up for sale and dropped the price by over 100 per cent but still 
could not find a buyer.<br />
<br />
He said, “<span style="color: #cc0000;">Somebody has a property to sell 
in Maitama, Abuja. As at about a year ago, he was saying he would sell 
the property at N1.4bn, but last November, the man said he was ready to 
sell the same property for N600m. And we have not even seen people who 
will buy the property</span>.<br />
<br />
“The man is interested in contesting in the next general elections. I 
can confirm to you that the elections are really making politicians to 
drop prices of their property.”</div>

Political violence raged in parts of the country on Sunday with an 
explosion rocking the All Progressives Congress secretariat in Abam Ama,
 Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.<br />
<br />
Just as the news of the explosion hit Port Harcourt, another round of 
violence was recorded in Rumueme, Obio/Akpor LGA where four APC members 
were machetted by persons believed to be political thugs.<br />
<br />
Persons believed to be political thugs threw dynamite into the 
three-storey APC secretariat at about 3.14am which caused extensive 
damage to the ground floor.<br />
<br />
APC Chairman in the LGA, Christian Asifamak, who narrated the incident, 
said that his office was the worst hit as the entire wall was pulled 
down by the impact of the explosion. His words:<br />

“In the early hours of Sunday, some unknown group of persons threw 
dynamite into our party secretariat, he explained, lamenting that the 
attack was “a deliberate provocation by our opponents, the Peoples 
Democratic Party, to draw the APC into a battle that could destabilise 
our LGA.”<br />
<br />
He warned that “the APC in Okrika would not allow Okrika to become a hotbed of crises as the PDP would wish.”<br />
<br />
Asifamak claimed that the PDP had resorted to violence because of its 
rejection by the Okrika for failing to bring development to their LGA.<br />
<br />
He added, “Till now the East-West Road through which we access our 
community has been left abandoned by a PDP-led Federal Government while 
Governor Chibuike Amaechi who is not an Okrika man built a ring road in 
Okrika and also rebuilt the portion of the federal road that links the 
LGA to the Port Harcourt refinery.<br />
<br />
“We however wish to warn our brothers in the PDP to remember that the 
land of Okrika has been known to defend itself and its people against 
aggression and that any Okrika person who brings crisis to the land 
answers for it.”<br />
<br />
Also, the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Dr. Dakuku 
Peterside, who was in the community to assess the extent of the damage, 
  expressed worry that the PDP   and its supporters had initiated a 
pattern of attacks on the people of the state.<br />
<br />
“The Police and other security agencies should tackle the excesses of 
the opposition party. This development is very sad and it is unfortunate
 that some persons in the society have decided to choose this path.<br />
<br />
“If you have noticed, there has been a pattern of violence lately. On   
January 6, when we had our presidential rally at the Stadium, you would 
have noted that some of our people who were coming from Abonnema, Degema
 and Asari-Toru axis were attacked around Sa-Ama junction.<br />
<br />
“The persons who were coming from Kaani and Gokana were attacked around 
Saakpenwa junction. Some other groups who were coming for the same rally
 were attacked around Elele. All fingers point to the other political 
party, the PDP.<br />
<br />
“We have raised these issues with the Commissioner of Police; we have 
raised it with the security agencies. Not much has been done after then.
 Aside from that, you must also have observed a trend. A few days ago, 
they were in Abonnema to campaign; a faction of PDP fought with another 
faction of the PDP and two persons were confirmed dead.”<br />
<br />
When contacted, the   state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad 
Mohammad, said   the police were already investigating the   explosion.</div>

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Department of State 
Services (DSS ) of acting out the script of the Presidency to postpone 
the forthcoming elections and help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 
and its candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, to avert defeat in the 
polls.<br />
<br />
The party’s National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed who said 
this at a press briefing in Lagos on SUnday, noted that the gestapo-like
 raids of their Data Centre last year showed that the DSS is working for
 the ruling party.<br />
<br />
He said, “Having taken our time to study the ‘findings’, we believe it 
is necessary for us to respond to the allegations in a more detailed 
manner that will show that we were even charitable to have described the
 report as hogwash.<br />
<br />
“That DSS report is bunkum, garbage, and is not worth the paper on which it is written.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>We will demonstrate that to you shortly. “We will 
like to tell all Nigerians that the crap called ‘findings’ is part of 
the ongoing efforts by the Jonathan Administration to postpone next 
month’s general elections.<br />

Having seen the handwriting on the wall vis-a-vis the growing rejection 
of the PDP by Nigerians, the Jonathan administration has gone into a 
panic mode, while embarking on a plan to postpone the elections.<br />
<br />
“Apparently, the thinking at the DSS, which is working in cahoots with 
the PDP, is that its report that the APC plans to hack into the voters’ 
registration Data Base of the Independent National Electoral Commission 
(INEC) will raise doubts about the integrity of the voter’s register to 
be used for the forthcoming polls, and subsequently force a postponement
 of the elections since the existing register cannot be used for the 
polls.<br />
<br />
“Unfortunately for DSS and the PDP, this thinking was based on a wrong premise, as we will show shortly, and it has backfired.<br />
<br />
“Before you say our claim is outlandish, remember that some prominent 
Nigerians have publicly called for the postponement of the election – 
which can only benefit the Jonathan Administration and delay its 
impending Waterloo at the polls.<br />
<br />
“Place the calls side by side with the apparently doctored outcome of 
the DSS investigations and the timing of the report’s release, and you 
will understand where they are coming from.”<br />
<br />
The APC scribe maintained that the DSS ‘findings’ cannot stand a serious
 scrutiny by independent investigators because the department, “worked 
backwards, from answer to question, in an effort to reach a 
pre-determined conclusion.”</div>

Here is 41-year-old Festus Aimufua who murdered his lady friend, Ms Rose
 Aifuwa, on Christmas Day. She is a mother of four who was based in 
Austria but returned to Nigeria with her Austrian passport last December
 to celebrate the Yuletide with her family.<br />

According to her family, Festus allegedly killed their daughter because she was requesting for the money he allegedly owed her.<br />

They said on that Christmas Day, their daughter insisted that Festus 
should pay the money but the suspect ran away from the deceased 
residence, hitting her with his car. It was said that the suspect 
dragged the deceased under the car till he got to Upper Mission 
Extension junction where he dumped the mangled body...<br />

After the incident, the Austrian government contacted the Nigeria Police and demanded that the<br />
matter be properly investigated since the deceased was an Austrian citizen.<br />

Ever since the incident, the police in Edo State has been conducting 
their investigation and the suspect confessed to have committed the 
murder, though unknowingly. Vanguard spoke to the suspect on Friday and 
he expressed regret for killing a woman who, according to him, he loved.
 He, however, denied owing the deceased, asserting that the only 
business he had with her was in February last year and he paid for the 
goods.<br />

<b>He narrated: </b>“ I am 41 years old and a motor spare parts dealer. I
 did not kill her. It happened on the 25th of December very early in the
 morning. There is one boy that help me to pack my goods, the boy was 
with me. After I dropped my family, I now decided to go and drop the 
boy. </div>

On getting to Upper Mission junction, she called me and asked if I 
didn’t know that, that day was watch night, and that if I would come to 
see her. I said I was coming. </div>

Immediately I turned my car and drove down to her shop, she had a bar. 
On getting there I saw some boys there drinking. I called the sales girl
 there and told her to give everybody drink. The drink amounted to 
N1,800. Among the boys there one of them knew me, so bought me one 
bottle. So I told my lady friend that I needed to go and drop the boy 
with me as he was drunk. I promised her that I will come back. That was 
how she allowed me go.</div>

I drove off. We stopped somewhere to have a drink. I equally bought 
drink for people there. But somehow I decided that I will go home after 
dropping the boy, but immediately I passed Upper Mission junction, near 
her place, her call came in. So I told her I was coming and I decided to
 turn my car to her house. </div>

When I got to her place, I took a stick of cigarette from her and told 
her that I will need to go home early, that some body was in my car. But
 as I was leaving her door she blocked me. I told her that I guessed she
 was drunk because any time she was drunk, that was the way she behaved.
 But the next thing I noticed was a slap, I retaliated. Before that I 
observed that some body was sleeping somewhere in her room, where I went
 to collect the cigarette. </div>

So I went outside but the boy sleeping there woke up and told me not to 
leave the house.  She went to wake up another person and was telling the
 person something inside. So the guy came out and said I should not 
leave the compound. The boy started making calls, so I quickly entered 
my car and locked the car. I saw her rush towards me but I had pinned 
the doors already. But she blocked my car and I saw two of the boys 
trying to drag her out of my way. Then I zoomed off, but I was now 
asking my boy after we left the compound if I hit anybody. The boy said 
no, that God forbid. But I was not comfortable because I was really 
drunk”.<br />

<b>Asked if he was owing the deceased, he said:</b><br />
“The only goods she brought to me was in February, that was when we met.
 She brought them from Austria. I am not owing her a dime. Not as if we 
were even fighting but the problem she had was that any time I visited 
her she will not want me to leave when I wanted to. And that was the 
argument, especially when she was drunk.</div>

“After I checked my car very well, I did not notice anything. I went to 
my friend’s place to inform him of my fear. I now called some body to go
 to my lady’s house to find out whether I hit some body. The boy went 
and told me that there was nothing like that. So I became confused. I 
called my younger brother to help me investigate if she was okay. He 
called me later to say that he heard she was in hospital and that they 
had deposited money. He later called me to say that they saw a body at 
Upper Mission junction and that it was the lady. I called my friends and
 they said I should go to the police station to report myself. </div>

“I can’t sleep, I can’t eat. This is somebody we did everything together
 and I loved her. I did not beat her, I don’t know what happened. After 
the incident, some youths went to my house to burn it down, all my 
people left the house. My sisters can no longer open their shops because
 they are scared. I am not owing her and we didn’t have any problem. I 
even bought her a bag of rice for Christmas. I did not kill before, I am
 devastated”.</div>
