APC says SSS working with PDP to prevent Jonathan's defeat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Department of State
Services (DSS ) of acting out the script of the Presidency to postpone
the forthcoming elections and help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
and its candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, to avert defeat in the
polls.<br />
<br />
The party’s National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed who said
this at a press briefing in Lagos on SUnday, noted that the gestapo-like
 raids of their Data Centre last year showed that the DSS is working for
 the ruling party.<br />
<br />
He said, “Having taken our time to study the ‘findings’, we believe it
is necessary for us to respond to the allegations in a more detailed
manner that will show that we were even charitable to have described the
 report as hogwash.<br />
<br />
“That DSS report is bunkum, garbage, and is not worth the paper on which it is written.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>We will demonstrate that to you shortly. “We will
like to tell all Nigerians that the crap called ‘findings’ is part of
the ongoing efforts by the Jonathan Administration to postpone next
month’s general elections.<br />
<br />
Having seen the handwriting on the wall vis-a-vis the growing rejection
of the PDP by Nigerians, the Jonathan administration has gone into a
panic mode, while embarking on a plan to postpone the elections.<br />
<br />
“Apparently, the thinking at the DSS, which is working in cahoots with
the PDP, is that its report that the APC plans to hack into the voters’
registration Data Base of the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) will raise doubts about the integrity of the voter’s register to
be used for the forthcoming polls, and subsequently force a postponement
 of the elections since the existing register cannot be used for the
polls.<br />
<br />
“Unfortunately for DSS and the PDP, this thinking was based on a wrong premise, as we will show shortly, and it has backfired.<br />
<br />
“Before you say our claim is outlandish, remember that some prominent
Nigerians have publicly called for the postponement of the election –
which can only benefit the Jonathan Administration and delay its
impending Waterloo at the polls.<br />
<br />
“Place the calls side by side with the apparently doctored outcome of
the DSS investigations and the timing of the report’s release, and you
will understand where they are coming from.”<br />
<br />
The APC scribe maintained that the DSS ‘findings’ cannot stand a serious
 scrutiny by independent investigators because the department, “worked
backwards, from answer to question, in an effort to reach a
pre-determined conclusion.”</div>

Barring any last minute change in plan, President Goodluck Jonathan will
 on Monday, visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his hill top
residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.<br />
<br />
The meeting will come less than 48hours after Obasanjo made a surprise
appearance at the wedding service of Jonathan’s foster daughter,
Inebharapu, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.<br />
<br />
Obasanjo and Jonathan have not been seen together in public events
lately, especially since the public presentation of his book, My Watch,
which is very critical of President Jonathan.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><br />
The former President had last Monday said Nigeria was facing economic
problems due to the failure of the present administration to plan for a
rainy day.<br />
<br />
He told eminent women leaders from the South-West, who visited him at
his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, that the nation’s
reserves which as of 2007 stood at $67bn had been depleted by the
Federal Government.<br />
<br />
PUNCH reported that Jonathan would use the opportunity of his visit to
Abeokuta for his campaign rally to visit Obasanjo who had withdrawn from
 active participation in the activities of the PDP.<br />
<br />
A top official who is aware of the arrangement told PUNCH that Jonathan
had been scheduled to visit the former president. “I don’t have the
details, but I can inform you authoritatively that the two of them are
scheduled to meet tomorrow,” he said.<br />
<br />
Jonathan may use the opportunity of the meeting to appeal to Obasanjo to
 have a rethink on his (Jonathan’s) bid for re-election in February.</div>

The political landscape is changing drastically and President Goodluck
Jonathan is not ready to join in the acts of imposing candidates for
elective offices. But this is pitching him against some governors.<br /><br />Strong
 indications have emerged that governors elected on the platform of the
some PDP are poised for some sort of showdown with the party's national
chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and Senate President David Mark over the collapse
 of an alleged deal President Goodluck Jonathan sealed with them.<br /><br />To
 express their grievances, the governors are expected to meet with
President Jonathan on Tuesday night for the purpose of extracting “some
commitment from him” before his ratification during the December 10
national convention of the party.<br /><br />In fact, the situation is so bad that some of the governors are threatening to dump PDP.<br /><a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a>As
 this emerged, LEADERSHIP gathered that a frustrated governor in one of
the South East states has already concluded plans to defect to the
leading opposition party, All Progressives Party (APC).<br /><br />The
particular governor’s grouse is that he has been stopped from presenting
 his preferred anointed successor for next year’s governorship election
in the state. His albatross are a former governor of the state and a
high-ranking member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).<br /><br />As
part of the alleged deal between the governors and President Jonathan,
they (governors) were to present their preferred candidates as
successors, just as those with senatorial ambitions were to be allowed
to aspire. About eight PDP governors serving their final terms are
reportedly eyeing the senate.<br /><br />But since the deal was struck a
month ago, there have been several dissenting voices, even as some
incumbent senators have drawn the battle line with their governors who
want to take their seats.<br /><br />The highpoint of the high-wire
political intrigues was Friday’s curious withdrawal from the senatorial
race by Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan and Sullivan Chime of Delta and
Enugu states respectively.<br /><br />A governor from one of the northern
states confided in a team of newsmen that his southeast colleague “is
already on his way to the opposition” as a result of the shabby
treatment meted to them.<br /><br />The governor said: “The PDP we used to
know is not the one we are seeing now. The party is rotten, and this is
very shameful and unfortunate. Some of us feel like crying for the party
 we once cherished as the biggest party in Africa.<br /><br />“It is most
ridiculous for the President to reach an agreement with us and renege or
 rather not to know what is happening, when governors are being pushed
here and there by forces who are merely interested in their personal
benefits.<br /><br />“But I can assure you that we have decided to unravel
what is really the issue, because we suspect foul play in all that is
going on within the party. Imagine forcing sitting governors to withdraw
 from the race simply because someone somewhere is threatened by the
presence of former governors who are desirous of being senators.<br /><br />“Right
 now, one of us, a southeast governor, is already on his way to the
opposition party. How are we sure even those who will not leave will not
 work from within to undermine the party."<div>
</div>
<div>
But why can't these governors can't do the right thing; campaign well so the delegates can elect you?</div>

Discomforting news for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election broke
out from Olusegun Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion in Abeokuta on Friday
evening, indicating that the outcome of the PDP governors who had gone
there to plead for the President’s support was initially played down.<br />
<br />
We can authoritatively disclose today that Obasanjo flatly refused to
support Jonathan although Obasanjo had publicly said that he only
explained to the governors his position on national issues.<br />
<br />
We gathered that he maintained his stand against Jonathan’s style of
administration which he said did not in any way deserve his
endorsement...<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735&pli=1" name="more"></a><br />
This was even as Jonathan and the son of the late former Head of State,
Mohammed Abacha met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa
yesterday, apparently to strategise on how to secure victory for him and
 the party in Kano and other adjourning States.<br />
<br />
The PDP is presenting the junior Abacha, who was freed from corruption
and theft charges by the Federal Government last June, as its
governorship candidate for Kano, based on his assumed influence and
popularity to dislodge the APC candidate backed by Governor Rabiu Musa
Kwankwaso.<br />
<br />
However, the five governors; Mallam Isa Yuguda of Bauchi, Babangida
Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Liyel Imoke (Cross River) and
Godswill Akpabio- (Akwa Ibom) had approached Obasanjo on behalf of
Jonathan and the PDP and pleading with him to not only tone down his
verbal attacks on the president and his administration but back him in
the forthcoming election.<br />
<br />
The governors, who spent at least three hours discussing with Obasanjo,
however were said to have left his mansion without any strong promise
from the former president, who sounded rather defiant, claiming that it
was clear to all Nigerians that Nigerian under Jonathan was in a bad
shape.<br />
<br />
Obasanjo was, however, said to have given his visitors some words of
consolation, saying, ‘the situation in Nigeria today is bad but is not
beyond redemption’. “That means that something can still be done to
change it, if there is courage and determination to do so.”<br />
<br />
A source close to the Abeokuta meeting told Vanguard that Obasanjo
received the five governors due to his respect for them as individuals
and politicians who rode to national limelight through his
instrumentality and not because of Jonathan or PDP.<br />
<div>
</div>
<div>
The source, who is close to Obasanjo said: “But the truth of the matter
is that ‘Baba’ did not give them any promise of word of comfort
throughout their stay in Abeokuta because he is very upset with most of
them, who have betrayed him in many ways since he helped them to clinch
power in 2007.<br />
<br />
“He told them the truth as it is that Jonathan’s leadership had really
hurt the image of Nigeria at home and abroad and that they themselves
should help him to change course so as to help Nigeria and Nigerians out
 the doldrums...<br />
<br />
“Let me tell you the truth; Baba stands on his position concerning
Jonathan and his administration and he is not ready to change whatever
he had said or written no matter who comes to him or not.<br />
<br />
“I can tell you that if the mission of the five governors was
successful, one of them, who likes to talk at every event, would have
been the first to speak. What happened was more of a mission not
accomplished to say the truth,” the source said.</div>

 </div>
This is what you get if a President is not assertive and his government uses kid gloves on terrorists.<br />
<div>
<br />
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that Boko Haram
insurgency would not end if President Goodluck Jonathan gets returned as
 Nigeria’s leader in the 2015 general elections.<br />
<br />
Okorocha made the declaration in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during a
 visit to the state’s secretariat of the APC with his team to woo
delegates to back him for the party’s presidential ticket.</div>
<div>
He said President Goodluck Jonathan had proved incapable of handling the
 Boko Haram insurgency, and that the terrorists threat was becoming
worse than the Nigerian civil war. He accused officials of the Jonathan
administration of using the anti-insurgency campaign as a “commercial
business like buying and selling.”<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
The governor said, “If President Jonathan wins the forthcoming election Boko Haram would never stop and <b>if PDP has what it takes to stop this carnage they would have done it a long time ago</b>.”</blockquote>

</div>
<div>
He said the officials benefiting did not want the insurgency to stop
because they were making money from the crisis through supplies of arms
and other gadgets to prosecute the war against Boko Haram.<br />
<br />
The governor maintained that it would be difficult for the present
administration to fight if its still holdup to power in 2015, stressing
that some people have already been making millions out of it.<br />
<br />
Governor Okorocha also blamed the PDP for the continued existence of the
 dreaded Islamist group whose attacks have claimed more than 30,000
lives. The APC presidential candidate accused the PDP of being “corrupt
and incapable” of leading the country.<br />
<br />
He added that Nigeria is in a turbulent period as a result of poverty,
injustice and impunity orchestrated by Jonathan’s administration. He
said Nigeria was already in a state of war and that things might become
worse in 2015 if Mr. Jonathan emerges as the president. He stressed that
 Northerners would not take it easy with Southerners in the country.</div>
<div>
On his chances as APC presidential aspirant, Okorocha said, “If you put
Jonathan and me together in the election, I will defeat him in all the
states of the federation.”</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
 </div>
The battle for 2015 will be tough, there is no sitting on the fence. You are either here or you are there.<br />
<br />
There are strong indications that former National Chairman of PDP,
Senator Banabas Gemade has dumped the party and joined the leading
opposition party, APC, to realize his senatorial re-election bid.<br />
<br />
Already, Gemade who represents Benue North East Senatorial District has
tendered a letter of withdrawal from PDP’s senatorial primaries due to
the hijack of the process by Governor Gabriel Suswan.<br />
<br />
A close ally of the erstwhile PDP chairman who spoke to Vanguard on the
condition of anonymity hinted that Senator Gemade may likely pick APC
form on Monday to contest the senatorial election.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
The source stated that Gemade who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on
National Planning will join forces with the former governor of the state
 and Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, to ensure that APC captures
the state in 2015 general elections.</blockquote>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />
The source claimed that Gemade decided to leave the PDP because the
National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP, turned down the list of his
 (Gemade) delegates and recognized the governor’s list which he claimed
were allegedly written in the comfort of his country home in Benue
State.<br />
<br />
Senator Gemade noted, with dismay, that there was no room for an honest
and law abiding member of PDP in having a fair chance in any contest in
the forthcoming primary elections as anyone who was capable of
manipulating the process, albeit illegally, was free to do so, and will
be protected.<br />
<br />
It will be recalled that Senator Akume was also pushed out of the PDP
and he joined the opposition party to win his election in 2011 and has
become a Chieftain of the APC and Minority Leader in the senate.</div>

Ijaw leader, Chiefh E.K. Clark has alleged that some members of the
leading opposition party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC)
 are desperate to take over power in 2015 and as such they can kill or
poison President Goodluck Jonathan in their bid to achieve their aim.<br />
<br />
Speaking in Abuja at a conference held at the instance of the PDP
Ward2Ward Initiative, Clark said from the utterances of some APC members
 in the face of the biting insecurity, he is seeing danger signals.<br />
<br />
"This morning, I read one of the newspapers. The national chairman of
one of our parties said that Nigeria was moving towards anarchy. I was
shocked. Coming here, I want to make a statement about it. Today, you
are here on your own because you believe in Nigeria. The future is here.<br />
<br />
“Do not be deceived. Nigeria is a great country. Those abroad want to come home.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a>Everywhere in this world, there are problems. Do not
deride your country. The fact that you are in the opposition does not
mean you should deride the country. I pray that the opposition joins
hands with the government to tackle the problems in the north.<br />
<br />
“But when we have an apposition whose intention is to take over power,
there is a problem. I appeal to the national chairman of APC to tread
carefully. If they even have their way, they can kill or poison Jonathan
 just to take over power. If Nigeria falls, there will no country for
the opposition to take over.”</div>

From what PDP sources in Ekiti State have told <b><a href="http://ogbongegist.com/">Ogbongegist.Com</a></b> so far, Governor Ayo Fayose really need to change his ways. Many top politicians are complaining of brazen imposition by him.<br />
<div>
<br />
PDP delegates who are gearing up for the National Assembly primaries
this weekend have raised the alarm over alleged attempts by Governor
Fayose to doctor the list of delegates for the primaries.<br />
<br />
A woman who spoke on condition of anonymity to LEADERSHIP, said rather
than let other primaries in the state hold last weekend, Fayose picked
25 of his cronies in place of delegates who were to vote.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
She said, "In another situation, he doctored the list of delegates;
instead of 54, he called up 64 delegates and insisted that he won by 2
votes. Now, he wants to pick the senators who will represent the zones
in the state. Having rigged the elections in the other parts of the
state, he wants to cancel the only place where the primaries were held –
 Ekiti South."</blockquote>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />
Another delegate who would have none of the governor’s selfish antics
called on the national leadership of the party to rein him in before “<span style="color: magenta;">his madness and recklessness rips the party in the state apart and puts it at a disadvantage for the next four years.</span>”</div>
<div>
<br />
“Last night (Wednesday), he even boasted to the hearing of everyone that
 he could doctor the list of delegates which had been sent to the
party’s secretariat in Abuja."</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
 </div>
It looks like it's only those eating from President Goodluck Jonathan
that are praising him. A former head of SURE-P, Dr. Christopher Kolade,
on Thursday condemned Jonathan for not showing the right leadership in
the manner he had been handling his responsibilities as the nation’s
president.<br />
<br />
He made reference to Jonathan’s decision to honour a political rally in
Kano shortly after a bombing that killed several Nigerians, saying the
best he could have done was “to postpone the political event.”<br />
<br />
For choosing to continue with the programme, he said, the President did
not demonstrate that he was sensitive to the pains of the people he is
leading.<br />
<br />
He said those who said the country “had never been this good” were
lying, and that at over 80 years he could tell that the country had a
robust history.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
The respected statesman condemn all those singing Jonathan's praises, including TAN, and insisted that, “<b>Nigeria was, at every other time, better than now</b>.”</blockquote>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a><br />
He spoke at the sixth Christopher Kolade Symposium organised by the
Nigeria Leadership Initiative, an organisation he was a pioneer
patron. He lamented the drift in leadership quality.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue;">“If we get to a point when we do not care how the country is led, we have lost hope</span>.
 The country is where it is today because some people sacrificed.
Unfortunately, beyond stealing, our leaders are not ready to sacrifice
anything,” he said.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIEEWClsRlgG3ppnbPSsdNvORZIK21T_EtSz1JZoA8fQaxIG5QR1H1AfQ8-WcrSxWBW3fNITf9UL2hF4fXd2wH-TtzxcHScA34k_aYebJgsB2iFEPCS9V1GmjoZeGv5cAwUxmEqCsv_YU1/s1600/NIGERIA+2.jpg" width="320" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
 </div>
Kolade said he took up a responsibility to lead the Subsidy
Re-investment and Empowerment Programme to demonstrate his love for the
country. Rejecting the appointment, he said, would have amounted to
wishing the initiative failure.<br />
<br />
He said he rejected allowance offer because he was financially stable.
The second reason, according to him, was to enable him to quit when he
noticed it was not going to succeed without the hassle of “waiting till
end of the month to collect allowance.”<br />
<br />
He said most Nigerians are unhappy with the leadership style of the Jonathan government.</div>

President Goodluck Jonathan, who last week bragged through Doyin Okupe
that he was a better leader than Olusegun Obasanjo and every other
Nigerian leader since independence, on Thursday sent a powerful
delegation to the former president to plead support for his understand
and forgiveness.<br />
<br />
Obasanjo had described Jonathan’s presidency as below "average", and that the "head" is "rotten".<br />
<br />
And it is becoming increasing clear that Obasanjo, known for his stand
against corruption, will give his full support to General Muhammadu
Buhari to take over from Jonathan in 2015 through APC.<br />
<div>
</div>
<div>
As soon as this reality dawned on him, Jonathan took a fast action...</div>
<div>
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735" name="more"></a></div>
<div>
He send five PDP governors led by Governor Godswill Akpabio on Thursday
to hold a closed-door meeting, which lasted for 3 hours, with Obasanjo
at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.<br />
<br />
Other governors on the trip are the governors of Bauchi, Jigawa, Cross
River, and Niger states, Isa Yuguda, Sule Lamido, Liyel Imoke and
Babangida Aliyu respectively.<br />
<br />
The governors arrived Obasanjo’s residence around 12.30pm and emerged from the inner chamber at exactly 3.30pm.<br />
<br />
Briefing journalists after, Obasanjo, said the governors’ visit was not
unconnected with nagging issues of the Boko Haram insurgents and the
very poor state of the Nigerian economy.<br />
<br />
In the words of Obasanjo: "I thank my brothers who have decided to pay
me a special visit. They were concerned about what you may call the
situation of the nation, the security, and the economy. What we have
discussed, most of them I have raised in my own public pronouncement in
recent times, not to castigate anybody, not to bad-mouth anybody, not to
 run anybody down, but out of genuine concern for the situation of this
country and that is the same thing that has brought them and I want to
thank them.”<br />
<br />
The former President noted that the situation in the country currently was bad, but added that it was not totally irretrievable.<br />
<br />
He added, “When we look at these issues closely, very objectively and we
 came to the conclusion that yes, we have a bad situation, but not
irretrievably bad. Something can still be done and what is now required
is the will and the courage to do something when and how it needs to be
done.”<br />
<br />
On the economy, especially the slump in oil price, Obasanjo said:</div>
<div>
“When we had surplus, we did not remember the rainy day, now that the
rainy day is staring us in the face, we must be honest and courageous
enough to do what is right, to let the nation know and then to take the
steps that will put it right as quickly as possible.<br />
<br />
“<span style="color: #351c75;">You do not need to be an oracle or a World Bank expert or an IMF expert to know that our economy is not what it should be</span> and this is not the first time we would hear it, we have heard it in the past.<br />
<br />
“<span style="color: purple;">When of course I came in 1999, the price of crude oil was about $9</span>
 and we realized that we had a problem, we even passed a budget that we
could not fund but we realized that we were in a serious situation and
we took steps.<br />
<br />
“Within two to three years, we were able to sail through, the price of
fuel started moving up. Do not forget that there was a time during the
Iraqi war, that the price of fuel rose to $42 per barrel and then it
came down to $9. The one that we have now, we do not know when it would
end but we can weather the storm if we take measure that we should take
it and when to take it.”</div>
<div>
On his part Akpabio said, “We decided that it is important for us to
come and consult with him, as he said pay our respect, discuss the
affairs of the nation and then to tap from his wealth of wisdom.</div>
<div>
<br />
“The intention here is that all Nigerians are determined to re-position
the country, we have no other country than Nigeria and so, no matter the
 challenges we may face today, we must work together as a team to redeem
 the situation.”</div>

Some aggrieved PDP aspirants, who were disqualified from participating in last
weekend River state assemblies primaries yesterday stormed the PDP
national secretariat in Abuja with a coffin in protest<br />
<br />
An aspirant, Davis Saloka, said they were at the PDP secretariat to kick against the “open robbery
perpetrated against them by the party.” He told newsmen that about 107 members of the party paid
to obtain the nomination forms, but
that only 32 whom he claimed were loyalists of Nyesom Wike, were given what
he called “dubious clearance,” while the rest of them were disqualified.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6589160015449763735&pli=1" name="more"></a><br />
“We all bought forms to participate in the PDP primary election but what
 we saw was out of the ordinary. We attended the screening exercise but
we did not know our fate
until Friday night when we saw a list pasted, indicating that only 32
persons were cleared to participate in the election.<br />
<br />
“We discovered that those nominated from Wike’s camp were given
clearance which gave them automatic ticket while the rest of us were
screened out. The most annoying thing was that we were not told the reason we were
 disqualified, and it is more curious to note that all we saw was a list
 that was neither signed nor was on a PDP letter head, but just
contained the names of Wike’s boys as the only ones cleared to
participate in the party primary.<br />
<br />
“On Saturday, they just wrote the names of these people and said
they were the winners of the PDP party primary where elections were not
 held. It is injustice, we won’t accept it,” he said.<br />

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) at its
395th meeting held yesterday, December 3, 2014 reviewed recent national
developments as they affect the party.<br />
<br />
Among others, the NWC deliberated on the court case instituted against
the National Chairman of the Party, Ahmed Adamu Mu'azu by the former
National Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur.

The NWC reasoned that for instituting a claim and counter claim in suit
FHC/ABJ /821/2014; Gurin vs PDP & 3 others without first exploring
and exhausting the party's internal mechanism of redress and for
attempting to stop the forthcoming National Convention to nominate the
party's presidential candidate as well as regularize the position of the
 National Chairman and other members of the National Working Committee
is unacceptable.<br />
<br />
The NWC hereby suspends Dr. Bamanga Tukur and Aliyu Abuba Gurin for one
month and refers them to the National Disciplinary Committee for
infringing on section 58(1)(a)( b)( h)( l) of the PDP Constitution 2012(

It is not easy to get President Olusegun Obasanjo to work for incumbent
President Goodluck Jonathan again after he was deceived in 2011 to
believe that Jonathan won't contest in 2015 if he was supported to
become the PDP presidential flag-bearer for the then 2011 general
elections.<br />
<br />
But from all indications, President Jonathan want to have his cake and
still eat same. He send about seven PDP governors to the Abeokuta
hilltop residence of ex-President Obasanjo to beg him to forgive and
work for his re-election in the critical 2015 presidential election
against the APC.<br />
<br />
Two of the governors, Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and Emmanuel
Uduaghan of Delta State, arrived Obasanjo’s residence at 12.55pm and
swiftly moved into the house with strong faces.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The identity of some of the governors could not be confirmed as the
registration numbers of their cars were covered. But a close aide of
Obasanjo confirmed that all the governors were from the PDP and that
they came to plead with him not to abandon Jonathan now that his support
 is highly needed.</div>
<br />
In a chat with PM News, Obasanjo's aide said, “Throughout last night
Baba Obasanjo met with us to discuss the visit by the PDP governors and
the position to take. Baba pointedly told us that he remains a staunch
member of PDP and that he was not fighting anybody but cannot accept an
indicted fellow to be his leader.”<br />
<br />
The governors were said to have begged Obasanjo to stop supporting the
APC indirectly as his support is said to be giving the leading
opposition party some high confidence of victory in 2015.<br />

A source told <b><a href="http://ogbongegist.com/">Ogbongegist.Com</a></b> that Obasanjo was just smiling all through while they were speaking.</div>

The battle for political leadership come 2015 will be tough, no doubt.
On Saturday, a former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Rafiu Jafojo, and
other top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos defected
to the All Progressives Congress, APC.<br />
<br />
According to NAN, others who defected included former Lagos State
Chairman, Elders Council of PDP, Dr. Oluyomi Finnih, and former state
secretary of the party, Tunde Daramola.<br />
<br />
Welcoming the new members, the state chairman of APC, Chief Henry
Ajomale,said they had made a good decision. He promised that the party
would be fair to them.<br />
<br />
Dr. Finnih, who spoke on behalf of the new members, said the defectors had come for the unity of the party and not to divide it.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“We took the bold decision because we see the party as a prosperous
party. We defected based on the lack of internal democracy in the PDP
and our aim is winning the presidential election by APC,” he said.</blockquote>

individual interest, saying that there would be a level-playing ground.<br />
