Arsenal Football Club manager, Arsene Wenger, at the weekend revealed what, in his opinion, caused the Super Eagles’ failure at the just concluded FIFA World Cup hosted by Brazil.
Speaking to Beinsport, Wenger, who revealed he has been doing an examination of the African champions’ display in Brazil, stated that it was “not lack of talent” that affected the team but rather, it was “poor organisation”.
“Nigeria had no solidarity. They showed the whole world the problems they had before the World Cup and it was the same with Cameroun. The problem was not lack of talent but with poor organization,” Wenger said.
The Arsenal manger, however, commended the Eagles’ first half display against eventual victors, France.
“Nigeria was not too bad against France. They had a good first half but could not maintain the momentum in the second half,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have never been able to go beyond the round of 16 in any of the previous World Cups. The attempts were made in 1994, 1998 and 2014.
