Sanusi Ado Bayero reportedly  left the country immediately, after as it has became clear that he had  lost the race for succeeding the throne.<br /><a name="more"></a><br /> <br />The visit on June 14, 2014, Saturday, means that the Bayero's would  not challenge Sanusi's appointment and coronation. On the other hand,  the absence of main contender for the throne reminds a one historical  analogy. <br /> <br />Vanguard recalls that a similar scenario played itself up when late Bayero emerged as the Emir of Kano 51 years ago.<br /> <br />Aminu Sanusi, father of the new emir, was Ciroma Kano in 1963, when  the kingmakers chose Ado Bayero as the emir. He had never paid a  solidarity visit to Ado Bayero until his death.<br /> <br />However, absolute majority of late emir's children completed the  courtesy visit. The Ciroma of Kano urged the people of his state  to embrace peace, but did not comment on the big Saturday's visit by his  siblings. <br /><br />It would be recalled that Alhaji Ado Bayero passed away on June 6,  2014, Friday. The first son of the late emir was one of the favourites  to ascend his father's throne. <br /> <br />However, the expectations were broken, as the kingmakers announced the immediate past Central Bank Governor, <strong>Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the new Emir of Kano</strong> on June 8, 2014, Sunday. The process and consultations with Governor Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso lasted for two days.<br /> <br />On the following day, <strong>Kwankwaso granted the letter of appointment to Sanusi</strong> at the Government House in Kano amidst protests near the emir's palace and neighbouring area. The newly-elected emir was <strong>barred from entering his palace for four days</strong> since his election.<br /> <br />It would be added that a delegation of Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad  Sa'ad Abubakar III, was at the emir's palace in Kano on June 16, 2014,  Monday, to pay homage to Muhammadu Sanusi II. UNBELIEVABLE: Top Oslo Imam Involved In Axe Attack While Returning From Mosque

<b>The imam of Oslo's main mosque, Nemat Ali Shah, was reported  to have been attacked with axe by unknown assailant as he returned home  from the Central Jamaat Ahle-Sunnat mosque in the centre of the  Norwegian capital late on Monday.</b><br />

AFP reports that the 57-year-old clergyman was recuperating in  hospital on Tuesday after a masked assailant repeatedly h*cked him,  causing him serious wounds to his face and hands.<br />

It was gathered that the religious leader was in a stable condition  on Tuesday after undergoing an operation on Monday night, and was soon  to be discharged from hospital. </div>

Police on the matter told newsmen on Tuesday that they were  treating the attack as a murder attempt, but stressed that they did not  yet know whether the attack was a hate crime carried out by anti-Islamic  extremists, or somehow tied up to his position at the mosque. </div>

"It is too early to say anything about it,"  Grete Lien Metlid,  head of the violent and s*xual crimes unit at the Oslo police said in a  press conference. Africa Can Win The World Cup In Brazil - Keshi

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><strong>Coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi believes one  of five African representatives at the ongoing 2014 World Cup in Brazil  could end up winning the football showpiece.</strong><br /> <br /><br />Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Algeria and Cote d'Ivoire are the five  African countries in Brazil and all the teams are expected to face stiff  competitions from the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Germany and others.<br /> However, Keshi said his team's chances should not be underestimated.<br /> Asked how close he felt Africa was to winning the Cup for the first time, he did not hesitate: "Very close.<br /> "Because they (the African sides) are good. As good as any other  teams that are here. I think this tournament is an open tournament. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">According to Vanguard report, the Super Eagles made  their request known to the Senate President, David Mark when he came  visiting them on Friday, June 13.<br /> <br />They also requested to be relocated from their Victoria Concept hotel  in Campinas to a more ideal place. They described their hotel as  isolated which makes them look like prisoners unlike other World Cup  teams whose Federations lodged them in better and more ideal places.<br /> <br />David Mark was said to have listened attentively as they tabled their  grievances, after which he appealed to the coaches and the players to  put aside anything that would distract them from victory, while also  reassuring them of the determination of President Goodluck Ebele  Jonathan to give them the necessary support in the tournament to make  Nigeria proud.<br /><a name="more"></a><br /> <br />He however chastised the Nigeria football assocition (NFF) for not settling the issue of appearance fee promptly.<br /> <br />There are fears that if the players request are not met, it might  dash whatever hope Nigerians have for the national team to do well in  Brazil 2014 world cup.<br /> <br />The whole country is looking forward to the Nigerian footballers' first game against Iran in the Mundial on Monday. More than 300 Nigerians had left for Brazil several days ago to cheer the Super Eagles.<br /> <br />It was reported earlier that the NFF had confirmed that the Super Eagles would get $10,000 as a winning bonus at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.<br />  <br />Reports have it that Nigeria will earn over $9 million about (N1.4b)  for qualification and participation in the first round of the Brazil  World Cup and if the Eagles move into the second round more money would  also be paid.</div>
