Chief (Mrs) Toyin Adegbola, aka Ajoke Asewo to re Mecca or London, is one of the actresses who have seen in all in the industry. She is set to celebrate her 30 years on stage. Not many people know although she was born in Offa, Kwara State, she is from the state of Osun. A veteran Nollywood actress, Victoria Oluwatoyin Oluwaremilekun Arike Adegbola nee Babatope is a leading player in the Nigerian motion picture industry and a pioneer in her own right. Toyin has been receiving star treatment since she made her debut on screen in the optical film Ejo N’gboro produced in 1983. Holder of several chieftaincy titles including Yeye Oge of Gbagi land, Yeyeluwa and Yeye Bobajiroro of Iganna land in Oyo State, became hugely popular and earned the alias “Toyin Asewo To Re Mecca.’ The movie which brought her to limelight.
This thespian with over 30 years of fulfilling acting career, has numerous movies to her credit including Keshinro, Mayowa, Tolani to Re London, Toyin Tomato, Olorioko, Elebolo, Sindodo, among others is worth rolling out all the drums in her honour. It is on this premise that Albasit Communications owned by Deji-Efiwe Sulayman, in association with the State of Osun are celebrating this wonderful actress who has mirrored the society with her Acts. As a widow, she single-handedly raised her 3 children who are all residents in England. The celebration holds from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th December, 2014; a three day event – Special session with state of Osun House of Assembly; Cultural Day with state of Osun Students; Thanksgiving Service in Church and launching /anniversary party and award night all at Osogbo.
