they were pruned and tested, eight contestants: Clement, Danielle,

electrifying note as Geoffrey Oji won the contest by the largest votes

We are living in strange times, of a truth. A 19-year-old boy identified
 as Abel who was recently promoted to SS3 in one of the secondary 
schools in Asaba, capital of Delta State, has allegedly put his own 
mother in the family way after he had a c*rnal knowledge with her few 
months ago.<br />

The stupid boy, popularly called Ekenem, was said to have consulted a 
native doctor, who prepared a love charm for him to use on his mother 
and one of the matrons in the college where he is a boarding student.<br />
<br />
Sources say the act committed by the boy still remains a misery to people in the area.<br />

While crying out over what her son has done to her, the mother said: “I 
did not know how it all happened, but all I can say is that a young man 
who looked like my son suddenly found his way into my room at wee hours 
and I was speechless.” </blockquote>

she and her son had remained inexplicable. But the father of the house,

confirmed the report, disclosed that the boy has been arrested over 
threat to life and other related acts, adding that the police were still
 investigating the circumstances of the pregnancy.<br />

As it were, it was reliably gathered that the husband of the woman has 
been away for some time outside his Port Harcourt operational base, 
hence he s not responsible for his wife's pregnancy.<br />
<br />
When it was discovered that the husband was not responsible for the 
pregnancy, the doctor who carried out the pregnancy test on her said, 
“upon completion of the pregnancy test, the suspect confided in him of 
the love charm that was used on the mother”.<br />
<br />
Confessing at the police headquarters to journalists, the stupid son said:<br />
“I am deeply sorry for all that has happened, I did not mean to do this.
 I saw myself falling in love with her after the love charm prepared for
 me. I have to confess because I know by so doing, God will touch her 
mind and I know she will forgive me. I suddenly found that I was m*king 
love to mum when I thought the charm will not work, and upon the 
revelation I threatened to kill her and the matter was reported to the 
police”, he said.<br />

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Jonathan 
Administration of seeking to negotiate the timing of the release of the 
Chibok girls to create a maximum public relations boost for itself, 
rather than out of a genuine concern for the girls who are now in their 
sixth month in captivity.<br />

In a statement issued in London on Sunday by its National Publicity 
Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the clearest evidence of 
the government's manipulation of the girls' release came during 
President Goodluck Jonathan's recent visit to New York to attend the UN 
General Assembly.<br />

''Apparently assured, somehow, that the girls were about to be released,
 the Administration had set up an elaborate publicity event in New York,
 rented the necessary crowd and booked back-to-back interviews with the 
international media to enable the President to luxuriate in the girls' 
release. This event was billed for the five-star Pierre Hotel in 
Manhattan, close to the UN Headquarters. </blockquote>

''Nigerians will remember that on 23 Sept., the military announced, on 
Twitter, the imminent release of the girls, only to retract the 
statement shortly thereafter. In the intervening period, thousands of 
'supporters' of the President had gathered at the Pierre Hotel to

interviews had been booked for him...</blockquote>

Somehow, the whole process collapsed like a pack of cards, to the 
chagrin of those seeking to exploit the innocent girls for political

APC condemned the shameless politicization of the plight of the Chibok 
girls, saying since the incompetence of the Jonathan Administration led 
to the abduction of the girls in the first instance, it must not seek to
 make political capital out of their release.<br />

''What should be paramount is securing the release of the girls as soon 
as possible, not securing their release to fit with a schedule that 
benefits Goodluck Jonathan politically. For the girls, their parents and
 indeed all good people of Nigeria, this abduction saga has been a 
nightmare. It is time for it to end,'' the party said.<br />

It said the same Jonathan Administration that rebuffed appeals from 
well-meaning Nigerians to negotiate the release of the girls in their 
early days in captivity has suddenly swung into feverish action, sending
 its cronies to negotiate with the abductors and even expressing the 
readiness to swap the Boko Haram commanders for the girls.<br />
<br />
''We believe the government should do whatever it takes to secure the 
safe release of the girls. We believe nothing is too much to do to get 
the girls back home safely and bring the much-needed relief to their 
parents and families. But we suspect the government's sudden efforts, 
which is undoubtedly aimed at giving a boost to President Jonathan's 
candidacy for next year's presidential election.<br />
<br />
''This is most unconscionable, most exploitative and blatantly 
shameless. It confirms what we have been saying all along that the 
Jonathan Administration knows more about the Boko Haram insurgency than 
it has admitted, and that the Administration is exploiting the 
insurgency for the President's re-election. Decent Nigerians are 
undoubtedly scandalized at this exploitative and deceitful behaviour of

sophisticated weapons being used by the Boko Haram insurgents. The 
reaction came after Nigerian troops captured a T-55 armored tank and a

insurgents in a heavy fire battle at Konduga, the second biggest town in
 Borno State.<br />

The sources said Boko Haram fighters made another big and desperate push
 to take Konduga, a town that has been the scene of incessant battles 
and disastrous outings for Boko Haram fighters in recent weeks.<br />

 such a mammoth weapon in battle. The tank and APC were eventually 
captured from the insurgents by the gallant Nigerian soldiers after a 
fierce battle in which soldiers killed more than 100 Boko Haram

About 15 soldiers were also killed during the firefight that lasted several hours.<br />

The Nigerian army said the seizure of the tank was a major blow to the 
insurgents. “The sheer power of the tank surprised us. And the tank has

could not have easily been detected by Nigerian jets flying over the 
area,” said a military officer.<br />

Boko Haram’s ownership of the tank shows the extent to which the sect is
 funded by powerful as well as wealthy supporters and an indication of

Nigeria. He argued that they had not only failed to empower the region

As the contest for the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead 
of the 2015 presidential election gathers momentum, the South-west zone 
has emerged the “beautiful bride” who the aspirants must court if they 
must secure the ticket of the party to contest the poll, THISDAY report.<br />

It was gathered from party sources that the emergence of the South-west 
zone as the beautiful bride stems from two reasons, the first being the 
immense influence a National Leader of the APC and former Lagos State 
Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, still has on the zone.<br />

The second arises from the fact that the zone will not be producing the 
presidential candidate of the APC for the 2015 elections, but still 
commands the highest number of states controlled by the party and would 
therefore be expected to produce a substantial number of delegates who 
will determine the outcome of the presidential primary scheduled for 
December 2, 2014.<br />

Accordingly, the major contenders for the presidential ticket of the 
party comprising former military Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu 
Buhari; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; and Kano State Governor, 
Rabiu Kwankwaso, have been lobbying the South-west governors ferociously

Ekiti State is still in political mood. The All Progressives Congress 
has vowed not to allow strangers to take over the State. Its state 
Chairman, Jide Awe, said during the state Congress in Ado-Ekiti on 
Sunday, that the party had “men and women of honour who are going to be 
at the vanguard of this struggle” to upturn the emergence of Ayo Fayose 
of the PDP as the state governor-elect.<br />

Awe, who was returned as chairman, said, “This is our land. The land of 
the progressives, We won’t allow any stranger to take it from us. The 
struggle for emancipation of Ekiti State has just started. I know we 
have men and women of honour who are going to be at the vanguard of this
 struggle. We at the head of the struggle will not shack in our 
responsibility.”<br />

Governor Kayode Fayemi, represented by his deputy, Prof. Modupe Adelabu,
 said he was optimistic that the APC would “overtake and recover “ the 
state from the PDP.<br />

Fayemi said, “The APC is getting stronger. The party is on the ground, 
effectively, efficiently and absolutely. From what I have witnessed, we 
still have a firm grip of the state.”<br />

But Governor-Elect, Ayo Fayose, said the APC leaders are merely deceiving themselves...<br />

 State; so, the APC should forget it.<br />

“I want the Ekiti APC to know that by 2015, APC will exist only in name,
 especially in this state. It will have no structure because its members
 would have defected to the PDP.<br />

“<span style="color: #cc0000;">We are going to do this with landmark projects. Laudable programmes to be embarked upon by Fayose would make them to defect</span>.
 For them to be saying they will recover Ekiti is just an imagination.

wrong for progressives that make up the PDP in the state to be referred

“On the contrary, we (PDP) are the progressives. APC members in the

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said that terrorism and kidnapping
 were still major national challenges because Nigerians had not united 
against them as they did against the Ebola Virus.<br />
<br />
Jonathan made the statement at an inter-denominational church service at
 the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, to mark the country’s 54th 
Independence Anniversary coming up on Wednesday:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“Take the case of Ebola for example; this is a good example all 
Nigerians must learn from. When Patrick Sawyer brought Ebola to Nigeria,
 it was in Lagos that this incidence happened and in terms of politics, 
Lagos is an opposition party state but the central government is the 
ruling party. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“From Lagos Ebola moved to Rivers State, also opposition party state. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
“But because all Nigerians fought Ebola irrespective of political 
persuasion, irrespective of religion, irrespective of ethnicity, as 
individuals we defeated the disease."</blockquote>

The president frowned at inflammatory utterances by politicians, saying:<br />

other countries to solve our problems. What we require from our brothers
 and sisters is to encourage our military because it is not easy.<br />

to some statements made by some people who call themselves leaders, I 
feel sad for the country.<br />

“We must believe that we do not have any other country outside of Nigeria."</div>

These days, it's no longer easy to stay different. Guess who has joined 
the society of bedroom 'things'? It's the highly respected Tyler Perry, 
who is known for producing several morality-based movies. The good man 
has impregnated his beautiful Ethiopian model girlfriend, Gelila Bekele.<br />

By now, the Nigerian military should be picking up a few useful insights
 into guerrilla warfare, which is going to be the preferred face of 
armed confrontation in the foreseeable future. During the conflict in 
the Niger Delta between the militants and the Nigerian Armed Forces, the
 militants used two names to issue public statements and threats: Jomo 
Gbomo and Cynthia Whyte.<br />
<br />
Gbomo has fallen mute since the 2011 Independence Day bombing in Abuja, 
when the leader of MEND, Henry Okah, was apprehended and put on trial in
 South Africa.<br />
<br />
It is Cynthia Whyte that is still talking any time MEND or those 
parading with the name issue a threat or claim responsibility for some 
mishap in the Niger Delta to prove they are still active even after five
 years of the Amnesty programme.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Boko Haram under its founder, Mohammed Yusuf, was not more than its 
predecessor jihadist anarchists led by Maitatsine and “Musa Makaniki” in
 Maiduguri and Jimeta, respectively in the 1980s. But when he was 
captured and killed and the original Abubakar Shekau emerged, Boko Haram
 assumed the toga of a full guerrilla outfit, feeding off sumptuous 
funding, floating arsenal of the deposed Muammar Gadhafi armoury and 
internal sabotage in the military and government by Boko Haram acolytes.</blockquote>

When the military announced it had killed the original Shekau, Boko 
Haram mimicked the Niger Delta militants and brought out another bearded
 figure, which it said, was Shekau, to portray that the military was 
lying...</blockquote>

Unfortunately, most Nigerians chose to believe Boko Haram rather than 
the army fighting to protect them. Even the media stopped putting 
punctuation marks after the name of this upstart impostor. The military 
did not help matters because during the reign of Shekau II, a number of 
events took place to deflate the confidence Nigerians had in them. The 
Chibok girls were abducted in the most bizarre manner, with the 
insurgents making the Borno State and Federal Governments look like 
common idiots. Boko Haram struck and overran some military and security 
facilities, killing officers and seizing arms and logistics.<br />
<br />
Mutinies took place and soldiers shot at their commanding officers, 
which led to a court martial. The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Aliyu 
Gusau, threatened to resign over quarrels with Service Chiefs, and 
Nigerian troops sent to the war front often fled in the face of Boko 
Haram assaults.<br />
<br />
In the streets, we fought one another on political party or 
ethno-sectional basis. All these reinforced Boko Haram under Shekau II 
and emboldened them to storm out of their hiding places in Sambisa 
Forest and start seizing territories to plant their comical “Islamic 
Caliphate” pennants.<br />
<br />
The Nigerian Army must have realised that guerrilla warfare is more 
about brains than brawn. It is a mind game. Boko Haram under Shekau II 
fought us with deft application of mind game, and surged forward. It 
also took a commonsensical use of wits to snare Shekau II to his end.<br />
<br />
Our soldiers captured some Boko Haram fighters in the battle of Konduga.
 They forced them to stage a false victory celebration and invite Shekau
 II to come and officiate. They laid an ambush and wasted the bastard. 
The tide of public opinion has now changed. Nigerians now believe the 
Army more on the death of Shekau II. Boko Haram fighters have lost their
 nerve and are surrendering.<br />
<br />
We must keep chasing them right to the gates of hell, as US Vice 
President, Joe Biden would put it. The war has just gone into a new 
phase. It may not end tomorrow. Guerrilla wars never end that easily. 
Unless we press our advantage, Shekau III is likely to emerge. Boko 
Haram is already using their media acolyte, Ahmad Salkida; to deceive 
the public by saying Shekau is “alive, hale and hearty”. This simply 
means, “get ready for Shekau III”.<br />
<br />
The killing of the two Shekaus is like cutting off a hydra’s head: it 
will simply grow another unless you stamp it out conclusively. This we 
must do, by standing together with our armed forces.<br />
