President Goodluck Jonathan made several promises aimed at wooing the 
crowd but was reminded by the PDP Governors’ Forum that the road to the 
February 14 poll would be rough.<br />
<br />
Ironically, the declaration took place at the Eagle Square, Abuja, a 
venue for most national ceremonies that the Jonathan administration had 
in the past years avoided due to security reason.<br />
<br />
The event, which also   held under tight security, was condemned by the 
All Progressives Congress which had argued that it should have been 
solemn considering the fact that the nation was grieving over the   
bombing incident that killed 50 schoolchildren and teachers by Boko 
Haram   a day earlier.<br />
<br />
Funny enough, at the declaration ceremony, President Jonathan admitted 
that corruption remained a stain on his administration but promised to 
eradicate the menace in all sectors of the economy.<br />

Jonathan vowed that he would bring to justice those who perpetrate 
corruption in his government. He also promised not to victimise anybody 
who criticised him and his administration.<br />

The President said, “We must continue to hold the tempo all high in our 
country. I am proud to say that there are no political prisoners in 
Nigeria today.<br />
<br />
“No Nigerian has been driven into exile; no one, and I repeat no one will be driven into exile.<br />
<br />
“It is in furtherance of a peaceful participatory and inclusive 
democracy that I signed the Freedom of Information Bill into law to 
expand the frontiers of our fundamental freedom.<br />
<br />
“Let me reaffirm that under the Jonathan Presidency, your views, no 
matter how freely expressed, will not send you to prison or to exile.<br />
<br />
“I am convinced that I have served my part with Nigerians and it’s now 
time to look into the future. With your tremendous support, we have 
collectively done so much in the last three and a half years.<br />
<br />
“But to take our country to the next level, there is still more work to be done.<br />
<br />
“History has shown that the path of honour of a true leader is not to 
walk away from his people in the face of challenges. We must stand 
together in adversary and overcome the threat to our development. We 
must defend our future.”</div>

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was conspicuously absent at President
 Goodluck Jonathan second term declaration for the 2015 presidential 
election in Abuja on Tuesday. Also absent was a former military leader, 
Ibrahim Babangida. Both are members of the Peoples Democratic Party.<br />
<br />
There are speculations that President Obasanjo was against the return of
 President Jonathan because of the alleged agreement he (Jonathan) had 
with the leadership of the party, including the governors in 2011, that 
he would only be in office for one term, after completing late Umaru 
Yar'Adua's tenure.<br />

Meanwhile, there were mixed reactions to the President’s self assessment
 at his declaration for the 2015 election. Jonathan, who admitted that 
the Boko Haram issue had been a big challenge to his administration, 
listed his achievements in various sectors.</blockquote>

A former chairman of Ikeja branch of Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. 
Monday Ubani,   said Nigerians could not be carried away by the list of 
achievements reeled out by the President.<br />

“Nigerians are already used to this road; the road of leaders coming out
 to tell Nigerians about their achievements that are not seen. Leaders 
at state and local government levels during the period of elections come
 out to say a lot of things. We are used to it but we are not carried 
away by their claims.”<br />
<br />
Financial analysts also expressed divergent views on the economic performance of the Jonathan administration.<br />
<br />
On his part, Mr. Eze Onyekwere, in a chat with Punch, said:<br />

"I will assess him as a student who want to get let my people go, which 
is about 40 per cent. We can afford to do more than two times as better 
as we are doing now in terms of uplifting the standards of living.<br />
<br />
“He promised refineries he has not done that. We are still importing 
fuel and spending about a trillion naira in importing fuel and the 
electricity he promised is not there yet.<br />
<br />
“To whom much is given much is expected and we have abundant resources 
but we are yet to fully get to utilise that resources for the benefit of
 Nigerians.”</div>

A 32-year-old pastor has been remanded in prison for allegedly r*ping 
and impr*gnating an 11-year-old girl (names withheld) in Lagos State. 
The pastor whose church is located at Odunbaku Street in Iju Ishaga, a 
Lagos suburb, was arraigned at a Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abule Egba, 
Lagos State.<br />
<br />
According to reports, the pastor allegedly told the victim’s mother that
 there is an arrow of death in her house and must move out to avoid 
death. In obedience, the woman moved into the church with her children.<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
But trouble started when the woman noticed some strange behaviour by her
 daughter who complained of stomach pain and showed signs of malaria. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
According to the mother, she contacted a nurse who then treated her for 
malaria, but the sickness continued until she underwent a scan which 
revealed that she was pregnant.</blockquote>

It was later discovered that she was two months pregnant and when 
pressed further, she revealed that the pastor gave her ‘holy water’ to 
drink and also gave her a red substance to rub on her face.<br />

The victim further added that she became unconscious only for her to see the pastor on her.<br />
<br />
When she wanted to scream, she said he used his hand to cover her mouth 
before sleeping with her, and told her she would die if she told anyone.<br />
<br />
When the charges were read, the pastor pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.<br />
<br />
The presiding magistrate, Mr. T. A. Elias, ordered him remanded in 
prison custody, pending the advice of Directorate of Public Prosecution 
and adjourned the case to January 2015.</div>

the bonus would have meant losing her almost $35,000 annual football

the name of Portah claims that pop act Sean Tizzle stole a chorus of his
 that was used in his hit song ‘Perfect Gentleman’.</span><br />

is an Ibadan based act has come out to say he is the composer of the 
‘Perfect Gentleman’ hook, but was not informed by Sean Tizzle or 
D’Tunes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The upcoming act made this claim during an exclusive interview with <span style="color: red;">THE NET</span>.</span><br />

story, Portah recollects how he met D’Tunes in STAR FM in Ibadan when 
the producer and Sean Tizzle were making promo rounds for their hit 
single ‘Sho Le’.</span><br />

 Portah, D’Tunes recognized him as one of his BBM acquaintances in the 
past. After catching up with the budding singer, D’Tunes promised the 
Lead City undergraduate that he was going to sign him.</span><br />

2, 2014, D’Tunes called up Portah, told him to come to his studio and 
bring his songs along. The songs were 21 in total.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">On getting to the studio D’Tunes copied Portah’s song from the two CDs he bought to his system.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">In Portah’s 
narration of events, D’Tunes revealed to him that a friend of his based 
in the UK was interested in signing him, but wanted to use the producer 
as the front for the label.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">D’Tunes further told him that when his friend from the UK comes to Nigeria in a few months, the record deal will be made.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">The producer later asked him if he was interested in writing for Sean Tizzle, and Portah said yes.</span><br />

however materialized from that because according to him D’Tunes didn’t 
pick his calls or answer his texts after that day in the studio.</span><br />

 singer said he was unaware his chorus was used in Sean Tizzle’s 
‘Perfect Gentleman’ until a friend of his sang the hook and told him it
